Giant slot machine
« on: April 02, 2021, 07:10:58 PM »
Hey everyone, wasn't too sure where this fit so I decided to post it in the general. I recently acquired a giant slot machine from a local auction and I'm curious to find out some information about it. The brand name is Al-Don manufacturing and it has Horseshoe Club Reno Nevada decals on the face, the machine accepts the "Ike" dollar coins. It looks as if everything is there inside of it, the coin acceptor and hopper are similar to other older machines but the reels and mechanisms are huge. I will be plugging it in and testing it out this weekend and seeing if I can get it going again. Anyways if anyone knows anything about these larger slot machine I'm curious to know how the hydraulic for the arm works, mine doesn't seem to want to return on its own and it also looks like I might need a new coin hopper, wondering which brands work. Also if anyone has any info about the machine on location that would be pretty cool. I'm thinking it was from the 70's but possibly used after that as well?

This is not an IGT machine. The Big Berta IGT were S+ with oversized reels, pretty much everything else was standard IGT S+

I suspect this is Bally given the 4 reels, but this is not my area of expertise.

ok so over the weekend i was able to get the machine somewhat back together and test it out. i powered it up it and all the lights come on as well as the deposit coin light is lit. when i put a coin in both the coin accepted light flashes and the solenoid for the arm pulls closed for a second. it seems like it wants to work but the relay for that circuit isnt latching closed. any ideas what controls that? theres 2 clear relay looking things mounted with the power supply

update on my giant slot machine, ive got it accepting a coin and releasing the handle but it doesnt seem to be recognizing a win and activating the hopper. ive noticed the previous owner looks to have been replacing some of the wires on the reel sliders. the first 3 reels look to be complete but the third has some wires not connected and some missing. are the three reels connected so that if the final one isnt complete it wont recognize a win on any of them? how can i figure out what wires go where? will the three reels have the same wiring configurations?
