Title: WBA 13 SS BV Not Working
Post by: smmoore14 on May 02, 2017, 08:15:09 PM
Hello I am both new to this site as well as to owning a slot Machine. I have an IGT S plus with a 1309 Game Chip and 7906 Reel Prom. I have a WBA 13 ss BV that doesn't seem to want to accept bills of any sort, Old or new. I know that it is enabled and everything is firmly in place. I have read numerous forums and can't seem to locate the problem in which I am having. The amber light is on when the machine is on to accept bills, but it eats the bill for a slight second and spits it right back out. I've tried cleaning it, and going through all of my settings on the machine from other posts I have seen and nothing seems to work.
Any help in getting my BV to work would be EXTREMELY appreciated as i do like putting quarters in the machine, I sometimes would like to just put some bills in to rack up the credits and play for awhile.
Thanks

Welcome to NLG. I assume from your post that this validator has never worked since you got it. A WBA 13 SS is not the original validator for an S+. They would originally have had a 10 or 11 that are an IDO22/23. The 13 in an S2000 would be an IDO24. You need the correct chip for the 13 but coded to IDO22/23. This could be the problem as the correct software may not be in the validator. Can you remove the unit, flip it over and snap a pic of the bottom and chip. Sometimes these get parts from different validators stuck together and may or may not be a WBA 13 SS. A picture or 2 will help us see what you have and try to get you up and running. A picture of the machine would be nice too. We always like to see what machines our new members have. Welcome to your new hobby (obsession) as that one has a tendency to become more almost overnight.

So with some further examination I noticed that I actually have a WBA 11.  But it looks like it has a IDO 024. As seen in the pictures. I also tried to look at the chip on the underside of the BV, but there is no writing on the chip. So i took what pictures I could of any labels i could see. Hope this helps with identifying what I have.

labels are deceptive,  take a picture of the actual connector plug on the back of the unit, and take a picture of the circuit board that the switch bank is attached to.  this will tell us what unit you have.

That is a WBA13 transport with a WBA11 head.. It's possible you need the get a IDO 023 eprom for your bill acceptor. It's hard to tell what yours has because the labels blank on yours..

So the chip that has the blank label, (pure white) would be my Eprom chip? Apologies for the ignorance, I just want to try and learn so that I may be correct in knowing what to do.

Furthermore, what does the Eprom do, or in other words its significance in relation to the BV head or Transport?

That EPROM carries the bill Valadators programming.

Ok I will look into getting an IDO 023 EPROM for it.

In the meantime are there any other possible things? I ask because to my knowledge the guy who had it before me said that it worked. I vaguely remember him even inserting a bill into the machine to prove that it did so. He had four of them, so it's possible that it wasn't indeed my machine.

I drove about 200 miles with hitting bumps and that, is there anyway something may have come loose in the wiring or something? I know there is supposed to be a way to actually test the BV by using the DIP switches however I am unsure of the proper method.

Also here is a picture of my machine.

If the BV is pulling the money in and then rejecting --

Make sure all the dip switches on the right side of the transport are up.

If the MPU battery was replaced .. could be a false positive signal and it isn't really communicating.

Could be the head has bad sensors

You actually have a WBA-11, you can tell by the 3 white connectors on the board where the Eprom is, so don't purchase an Eprom for a 13, as it won't work. That BV will only accept Bills Face Up and Top of Head to the Right (one way acceptance)

If you do need to upgrade I would suggest going to a 12/13 though (Just a harness and transport change) and will accept newer bills and 4 way acceptance

So if i were to buy a new assembly Transport and head together, what would be the newest software to accept new bills or colored money?

I assume its the head that actually reads and accepts the bill, is that correct? If so then I would potentially be ok in just getting a new head for the transport?

remove the cash can from it's area,  remove the transport, all the switches (1 through 8 ) should be in the off position,  now place switches 1-2-3 and 8 in the on position,  put the transport in the machine,  turn switch 8 off, the unit should cycle briefly, now you should be able to insert bills into the unit, if it takes them in and deposits them where the cash can should be then the unit is working as it should.  if all the settings are correct, enabled, denom, limits in #7, then your unit probably has the wrong IDO.

Ok Jim, I will try this tonight and see what happens and follow up, Thanks!

Ok I tried that and the BV did the same thing took in for a second then spit right back out. Also the Amber light in front started blinking in intervals of 2 or 3 times. The insert coin light also blinked along with it.

If the unit does not work in the stand alone test then you have a problem with that unit. the stand alone test only tests the bv unit.

If you need one I have tested one's available, with the latest software, will accept up to the new 5.
