Alexis
What SB/SG/version chips and also MPU type is your Tabasco?
What is the problem with the original HD drive? What does the top box display when you try to boot the game?

Hello,

First of all, I would like Thanks you for your support.

On my MPU IGT Board I have : it seems to be a 3902
MPU REF : 1952-2
Version Chip A : VS009IX0
STEPPER GM1 : SG000218 1/2
STEPPER GM2 : SG000218 2/2
STEPPER BASE : SB000511

On the Topper Box :
RFA Version : RFA20001
ATA Version : ATA20009
Available BGM : BGM20050 Tabasco ReelTouch
Bios Motherboard : 49LF004A 33-4C-NH / 0419074-B
Hdd is an Hitachi Travelstar 20GB (without any specification from IGT)

My IGT Reel Touch Tabasco has few bugs.
·         It comes from a Casino with a MSVERIFY : COMM ERROR.
·         I have changed the 2 battery (MPU IGT and motherboard as well)
·         I made a Clear Ram and the Keychip.
·         I also have installed the Bettor TITO.

I have to say that I unplugged the 3.6v Varta Nimh on the MPU because it was dead and I've Seen that it is not use for Home... Nevertheless, I ordered a new one that I'll solder next friday...

Today, it takes nearly 7 minutes to make it start.

I have check all of the wires and still have few bugs.
When I have the MSVERIFY ERROR, I need to reboot 3-4 Times the machine and then it works perfect.

This error comes when the MSVERIFY : APP Start takes more than 3 seconds ( after the CRC Image check and Initilization)
If it takes 3 second, it usually works.
I used to have a General Reel Tilt Error that can be solved with opening door….

Sometimes, the “Waiting for Video Display” take also too much time
So, here are my actions :

Bios Action made : Optimized values but I cannot stop the RAM count on the Bios (even if I select the Quick Power Boot on Self- Test)
Action on PC motherboard : cleaning / Ram test / Cpu fan / ATX Power checked

I also have to check the HDD but I do not have any CRC error… (for sure, I will have to make an Image of the HDD but I've been told that if I plug the HDD  on a XP computer it will affect the IGT system file).

When the machine works, I can reboot it  and it ´s still working.
If I switch the machine off for 2 hours, the error message come back.

It seems that my IGT need to be hot to work...

I really appreciate your help...
Many Thanks

Alexis,
Excellent description!!
Let's go one at a time.
The normal boot time on a Reel Touch is between 3-4 minutes.
It will always check the memory and you can't stop that.

You have a 504 board so leave the varta battery off I would not replace it.
I would clean the board where it was with a mild vinegar and water  solution.
then flush with water and let completely dry.

You have the same chip set that I have on my Tabasco with the exception
on the SG chips but since your machine works most of the time it is not an issue.

The general reel tilts do they occur on boot up or after the game has been on?
My machine does it on boot every once in a while i just lift the latch and it goes away.
If it happens after the machine has been on for a while you might want to check door optics alignment.

I think we are down to wiring or your HD is going bad.
Have you carefully reseated the chips on the MPU and have you tried seating the connection on the HD? (Make sure you get the plug back on correctly or wires could fry)
If all of the above does not work you may need a HD.

Lin you are the expert anything I missed please add your comments.

 Hi All,

I worked on my machine this weekend (cleaning and checking boards and wires…)

Following multiple messages on different NGL post, and qbert (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=profile;u=195)'s councils   I did not solder back my new  3.6v battery Varta.

I’ve seen on NGL that  "open-door" error may be related to the acid in the battery that leak .

Indeed, I found white and green marks on some close to the battery components (see picture).

So I proceeded to clean the track (below and above) the battery 3.6v.

Cleaning procedure: a mixture of baking soda and dish soap with a toothbrush.
I rinsed with water, dried with dry air and hairdryer.

I put my MPU back and “you know What…. I’m happy…” => result, more bugs open-door or door-printer or bill-door

The MSVERIFY error message no longer appears.
My machine now starts in 3 minutes instead of 7 minutes (with erros..).

Once again the support of NGL is impeccable.
Thank you all and qbert (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=profile;u=195) for your kindness and your patience.

If you are thinking of installing multiple games on the hard drive ---- Tabasco is the only game I have found that will not run with other games installed must be the only game on the hard drive. Just a word of caution. Hope you get your game going and enjoy -----lots of fun.

Hi All & Idylewild1,
In fact, as I know, Tabasco is the only game on HDD (instead of the other games).
Today, I will not change the game but in fact, I'm sure that one day my HDD will be broken and I simply want to make a "clone" of my HDD.
Is there any solution  to clone an IGT HDD  with a Windows XP / 7  or Macbook ?

If someone can also have a ReelTouch Kit like the Denver Duck (Glass, reel strip, chip and HDD)....

Thanks all for what you're doning and your precious help.

For reasons unknown to me, some games can be bundled on one drive, but Tabasco is NOT one. It must be on a drive by itself.

Hi  & Thanks for your reply.

Do you know where I can buy  a Reel Touch Kit as the Denver Duck (Strip, glass, MPU chip, HDD) ?
My dealer gave to me the Ghost (HDD clone image) of the Tabasco in case of my hdd is destroyed.
Thanks again,
Alexis

You can use laptop drives for the reel touch machines. These drives are cheap on ebay.

Hi,

That's what I've done. So now, I have the ghost image on another HDD. I'll use it as a backup one.
If someone can have the Denver Duck file....

Thanks
Alexis
