Title: Bally e2000 - Removing coin hopper
Post by: pearson28 on November 18, 2023, 04:14:43 PM
Hi,

I think I have an e2000 series machine. Works great and I’m trying to move it to my basement. I want to remove all extra weight before I do.

I can’t seem to figure out how to slide the coin hopper out. It acts like it’s locked in place and I can’t seem to figure out how or where. Any suggestions?  I thought I read somewhere it’s should just slide right out.

Thanks!

pearson28,

Welcome to the forum.  To remove the hopper, you will need to lift up and remove the coin payout tray.  Once that is out of the way, just grab the handle on the front of the hopper and give it a slight tug.  It will then just slide straight out.

Thanks for the reply.  I’ve already tried twice and given it a pretty good pull but with no luck. There’s no locking mechanisms? I’ll remove the payout tray again and give it a stronger pull but I’m skeptical.

Is there any way to post a video on this forum? I could show what I’m doing.

Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. The best way is create a YouTube video and post the link here.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I manned up and gave it a good tug, popped out!

This will make moving this beast a little easier along with the reels out. Updated pics enclosed.

Problem solved!!

Update:
Should someone as new as I am to slot machines find this thread in the future, I wanted to clarify that I wasn't aware there was a Molex plug on the backside of the hopper. That explains why it was harder than expected to remove. What I needed to do was to continue adding force until the plug pins separated at which point it would have slid right out.  Good luck!

On those Beau plugs, spray them with MG Chemicals 404B and work the connection in and out several times, then spray and repeat. When you’re finished, that reel mech will slide in and out like butter and the connections will be clean. Do not use 404B on anything else in the machine.

Thanks for the advice on the beau plug cleaner.

What would you suggest for all other connections? I have an old can of cleaner, but need to pick up a new one.

Thanks!

On all other contacts 99% Isopropyl alcohol with a piece of rough cardboard like a business card and a tightly wound swab on a wood stick. You dont want anything abrasive. Don't use contact cleaner as the contacts arc and burn the contact cleaner leaving more grime to clean.

Ok. Thanks. I ordered some 99% alcohol and stick type swabs from Amazon.
