Title: What's your machine sitting on?
Post by: Ron (r273) on March 10, 2014, 09:08:10 AM
These are six of eight I built to set my machines on. Each has a wall switch on the side of the box and a plug strip. What do you have?

The one I'm using now is my "Lumber liquidators" leftover hardwood flooring. I was too damn far to take it back so it went to a good cause.

I have 4 machines;

3 of them are on what I have seen people call "bullnose" metal slot stands, I really like them because they give me a casino feel, are heavy-duty, and have the locking doors on the front.

The remaining machine is on black painted particle board.....

I've been trying to find someone who sells the metal stands for over a year with no luck. Where did you find yours. I'm looking for a couple pallets of them.

My weird rambling old place does not have a Man Cave, so I've wound up with a slot in every room.
Here are two examples. One is on a sturdy Ikea square kitchen butcher-block table. It sits between the
kitchen and dining room, both of which are butcher-block & pine "themes." I cut the $59 table down
to 29" tall: easy to play the machine standing up while waiting for the spaghetti to boil!

The second one is in a guest bedroom, right next to the headboard. It's on a heavy wooden short
file cabinet from Staples, $25.

Im using a entertainment console that i purchased at Bobs Discount Furniture. I modifidied it by cutting off the legs and then reinforced the bottom and the inside for strength. It handles the weight of 2 Bally Alpha 9000s just fine and looks really good in my man cave setup.

I got all my machines from a local slot shop and they just ran out of the metal stands, which is why I have one that's on particle board. So, if you guys find a source let me know because I would like another metal one myself!

I picked up my stands from Ken at Ohio Gaming. These babies are heavy-duty and laminated on all six sides. They can be set up to a short height or rotated to a taller height.

I used an old railroad cart.. I cut it down and welded up some angle iron to support these beasts., then whittled a top out of some scrap cedar.  A little tall, but it matches the decor in my game room..

Not only do I like that stand, but the rough sawn floor planks and the stone wall of the room is GREAT...
Please show us more.

Thanks Neon. I appreciate the compliment.  :hail:  The flooring is reclaimed barnwood planks.  If you shop around online, you can actually purchase it cheaper then buying pergo flooring from home depot.  The best part about it is unlike pergo or finished wood floors, if you scuff it or even stain it, it just adds to the character of the wood.  I'll add some more pics during the week.

Great topic and at a good time.  I just started looking last night for designs to build a few more and ran across neons post from 08.  Your stands look amazing.  Ill be hitting home depot tomorrow for some wood and see how they come out.

Currently i have 3 standard casino stands and in the basement i have a 2 large metal framed tables that are roughly 3' x 5'.  They are perfect for a middle room setup with four machines, two on each side.  I picked them up at Decathalon sports when they went out of buisness.  Only down side is their weight.  Illl post some pics tomorrow.

These slot stands are by far the least expensive and easiest to make.. It took me no time at all!

Ha.., I am waiting for the weather to be above -20 so I can weld up some similar 'industrial cart' type stands. -I also have a built-in slot area for a few others.. And a hallway with some others... And a garage with some others............... :duh:

I think I have too many slots  :Scratch-Head: .. What a hobby!

Thanks

I have always used these little oak ice box replica tables with the White Clad brand attached.  Nice 24" stands, with storage below, which I find useful for storing all my reel budles that I have strips installed on for quick game changes.  Over 200.00 each new.  I find them one, two, or three at a time on Craigslist for 20-50.00 each.  Have bought 26 of them now, so everything matches.  :-)  the only thing, it would be nice if they were a few inches shorter, but still, they make for a good stand.

I check Craigslist daily. I've found a Bally stand for $20 and a nice IGT stand for $20. They're out there. The last one came with a slot! I paid $240 for slot and stand... and sold the slot later for $300...kept the stand for my Bally 741.

If you cut a whiskey barrel in half and add a butcher block top, it sits right at 19-1/2" high.

I need to build a base for my Universal Slot machine. What is a good height to make it from the floor? Should the reels be eye level standing? or maybe I should base the height off of a chair for it?

I'm thinking I'll make it out of 2x4s and 2x8s I have already. I don't really have the skills or tools for metal working.

A standard slot base is between 18” - 19” high. You don’t want it much higher especially if you are going to have any machines with tall toppers on them. You want the reels to be about eye level when you are sitting down in a regular height chair.

I picked up this stand from Uline for $105 with free shipping.  Fits the BB3 perfectly 24x18 It just needs a black paint job and a hole for the power cord.  It is very sturdy and adjustable.
