IGT S plus bill validator working intermediately
« on: November 28, 2024, 05:15:45 AM »
My DBV works on/off. I have worked with Jim on the settings and have them all set. When I do the input test for the DBV I get nothing. I have no bill validator light either. Couple of the sensors are bypassed in the DBV. All of a sudden it worked last night and know does not work anymore. I think it is an issue with the catch can or catch can housing. My dbv 200 does not have the red handle (do some of them not have it?)
I see no way to remove the DBV from the housing? Any help appreciated. I have tested the DBV with the dip switch on the dbv and it does cycle the dollar.

Can you post a few pictures of the BV and assembly?

I watched a couple youtube videos on what it should sound like at startup. Seems like mine cycles for a longer time. I have tried removing the transport but cannot seem to figure out how to remove it. I don't have the RED lever or the two thumb screws on the front that people talk about.

I have a DBV like this. It's not the standard type you find in S+. I will take a look at mine to see how to remove the transport.

The transport is sort of connected with the head although you can take apart the head if you wanted to.
On the bottom photo, you can I highlighted the one screw to remove to get off the head.
It's different than the older DBV mounts that had the 2 brass thumbscrews.
That one Philips screw on the front under the white, rectangular "DBV-200" label of the entryway.

I'm not sure if you want to remove that enclosure box but, in the photo below, one can see that there's only one left screw holding it...the right screw is missing.
Disregard the two screws above and below the cherry switch...that's for holding the cherry switch really.

I also noticed that you have a green label paper sticker laying in there... that can cause problems too.

Click on the photos below to enlarge if needed...>>>

Thanks. I have taken the bill validator off couple of times. What I could not figure out is how to remove the transporter? I have read that some people drill out the holes that the sensor sees through. All the other sensors on have been bypassed.

there is a screw on the left side, beneath the white plug, probably one on the right side as well,  remove those, that should allow the transport to come out.

I don't think you have the black plug correct!  pin one on the bottom should have the blue wire, pin 4 should have the red wire.  pin 1 is the first pin , bottom row, to the left. , that set of wires applies 5 vdc to the opto 0n the lamp bezel board to turn it on, thats why test 27 doesn't work!

you should hear two distinct grinding noises when power is applied, first is a heavy grinding noise, this is the transport meshing with the cash can, the second noise is a gentler noise this  is the  200 head meshing with the transport , two noises, should last perhaps 8-to 10 seconds and stop.

double check the plug on the right side of the transport, sometimes one of the four pins do not mate with their counterparts, this could cause the prolong searching noise you hear, that connection is for the optic beam to tell the unit that the cash can has been recycled properly and ready for use.

Hope this helps

Jim- I will take a look at the black plug. I thought I had them correct per our text message. I am not hearing the first noise at startup. I have removed those 2 screws but still was unable to pull transport out :banghead: I was going to text/call you the other night when it actually worked then the next morning it didn't. The bezel even lite up. I think it has to do with the cash box?  :Scratch-Head:

the purpose of the handle with the red grip is to disengage the back white wheel from the cash can and allow you to pull the transport out, since you don't have the handle, you will have to try and lift the back end so you disengage the wheel .

does your cash can slide into place and lock into position?  you shouldn't be able to just pull it out, you have to push down on the release arm on the upper right side.

can you move the white wheel on your cash can with your finger and observe the stacker working in the can?

Can slides in but does not lock on that lever. Looks like someone took out the pin that it locks into off? I can slide the can in and out without using the release lever. I can send pictures of the can later tonight after work or in the am before work.

that could be your problem, try and wedge the can so it is locked into place, so the gears can mesh together.

You found the problem. Maybe look around inside the cashbox area or inside the machine floor and you may find the bushing that goes on the side of the cashbox . The bushing is either held on with a metric screw or was pop riveted onto the side of the can.

Well I tried some things before work this am. The can does slide into place on the two pin's on the bottom of can. Transport with cycle if I jiggle the can around a bit. Might need a new cash can? Yellow light does not come on and bill validator will not work.
