IGT S+ Change / Credit Problem
« on: March 10, 2025, 05:57:37 AM »
So, I found a Triple Diamond at a storage in PA. Paid very little for it. Threw it in the truck, got it home, went through it, then powered it up. Not a big fan of S+, but the price was great. Some issues with the cc, but resolved it minutes and was able to play and cash out using quarters.  The BV was not working. The transport was frozen. Swapped with a good transport, and set the BV to 9-1  .25 and the light came on. All good. Put $1 in, got 4 quarters back. Not good. I made sure the cash button was lit, tried again, and same thing. So I went through the settings. 5-0 apparently shuts it completely ( the cash/credit button) 5-1 and 5-2 both worked the same. Put $1bill in, get 4 quarters in return, regardless if the cash button is on or off. I want to put the bill in and get credits. .not change.
Game chip is SP932, Reel chip SS4787.
How can I fix this? Any help appreciated!!

Check setting 8 in the 5-0, menu, it should be 8-0,  some SP chips require a dip switch setting for this, you would have to check the PSR.

5-0, is the player selectable payout, either pay out the win, or put it to credits.

Hope this  helps

Jim is correct, PSR for SP932 states:

If DIP switch 4 is on, the bills-to-hopper option is automatically enabled and all inserted bills are paid from the hopper, regardless of the game's credit type.  If DIP switch 4 is off, the operator can specify in self test how inserted bills are paid.  Payment can follow the player-initiated credit type, it can be set to override the game's credit type and always pay cash only, or it can be set to override the player-initiated credit type and always pay credits only.

Ok, I pulled the board, and DIP switch 4 was ON. It's now off, and bills inserted are still paying out though hopper. The cash/credit button is lit, and if I use quarters, the wins are paying out in credits as it should. I'm not good with S+ and settings. I know each press of the button goes to a different setting. Is setting 8 pressing it 8 times?

No, when you get to the 5-0 menu, either turn the jackpot reset key, each time you turn it the display should go up to 6, do it until you get to 8, setting should be 8-0.

If everything is set properly and it stills pays from the hopper, then the cash out switch is not wired correctly, it is the only switch that is wired differently from all the other switches.

Hope this helps

That did it. It was set at 8-2. I'm not used to these S+ machines, and forgot that you use the reset key to advance once your in the setting. All good now! The chip in the head is blank, so not sure what version it is. Only taking $1 bills...but it's a start! I have to go through my old S+ Parts and see if I have another head that's hopefully updated!

Thanks again !!!!!

The head is not programmed, it’s the transport that is eprom or flashed.

I'm so confused with S+. I thought it was the other way around. I have a stack of heads, and without changing the transport, I tried each head and found one that takes $1 and $20 bills. All the other heads I put in didn't take the $20

DBV: Flash or eprom is on the head.
WBA: Flash or eprom is on the transport.

Those were the most commonly used in an S Plus.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Ok. Right now it's taking $1 and $20 bills, which is perfect for me. Might even take an older $100. Didn't try yet. What do I need to update to newer bills? Most my heads have eeproms. All are 200s, not 145s. I didn't look at the transports. Up until today, I had no idea the transports had anything

DBV200 V2.61 takes everything except the new $5 & $100. That's the best you can do with it. If you have one that accepts the new $10, it should be already be updated.
