This post is to help clarify the UBA 10's serial protocol jumper settings. There are 3 jumpers that determine if the validator is C-Loop (IGT and WMS) or RS-232 (bally, aristocrat, etc)
The WMS bluebirds 1 and 2 are able to use the validator in either position. If the validator is in a C-Loop, then the backplane jumpers are JP1 2/3, JP2 1/2, and JP3 2/3. If the validator is in RS-232 mode, then all jumpers are positions 2/3.
Here is a photo of the validator in C-Loop mode. If the jumpers are in the opposite set of pins, then the validator is in RS-232 mode. These photos illustrate C-LOOP mode.
