Title: 809 Bally Bell
Post by: EM9970 on May 26, 2017, 11:15:19 AM
I am new to this site and repair. I have worked on old pinball and video games and have got all of them working. Having trouble with this 809. Have been studying manuals and schematics for weeks. Cleaned everything repaired what I could see and got it working. Put coin in everything works. When put 2,3,4 coins will work and advance and sometimes it won't When it hits it always pays 2 or 3 or 4 times the amount. It will not pay out 1 quarter amount. I am still trying to figure out how it works. i understand about half. Still confused with the payout. It won't pay when there is a bar on the 3rd wheel and 2 of the same fruit on the 1st and second wheel. Thanks, Novice thats love these old bally machines !

Is the setup unit in the top box working? You also have the odds units in the top box. Those are the small wheels that look like the scoring unit in an old EM pinball. I would start by making sure the beau plugs both male and female are clean. I my self use a piece of 500 to 600 grit wet dry sand paper on the male plugs. For the female plugs I take a well worn out nail file from my local dollar store. I cut them to the width of the female plug. Then I stray WD40 on the plug and clean the female contacts. When done I spray rubbing alcohol  on the plug to flush them out then let the air dry or you can use compressed air. These cabinet plugs are a major problem on these EM slots. I have 2 sets of extension cables I use to be able to watch the operation of hoppers and feature units. I also meter every contact and blade switch to make sure they work. I never trust my eyes.
