Title: Yet ANOTHER Aristocrat Double Agent question. Burnt resistor found.
Post by: cool_factor on December 20, 2017, 06:25:11 PM
Bet line 5 button works but bulb is burnt out, replaced with new, still burnt out. Tried new bulb in different button and it works. So started checking things out. Found R17 resistor burnt (not sure why? wrong bulb maybe? Wasnt me...). Anyway, all corresponding button resistors look to be same value, 33ohm 5%, if I decoded correctly. Can anyone verify? I included a pic of board and burnt resistor.

Resistor color code Red-Red-Black is 22 ohms. Gold band is 5% tolerance but that probably isn't critical. Looks like the burned resistor also has damaged solder pads and circuit trace damage, you may have to run jumper wires to repair. If the button bulb had a LED bulb installed some types of them are not compatible and will short out the circuit, has to do with the way the LED bulb wires are wrapped around the bulb base. If LED bulbs are not being used, just ordinary incandescent,  then make sure the bulb is the correct type. Also, a wire running from the button to this board could be pinched and shorting lamp voltage to ground and burning up the resistor. Make sure the associated wiring is not cut or pinched somewhere along its route.

camera makes those bands look red, they are orange. Im hoping someone with the same board can verify.

Fixed! Replaced that burnt resistor and all buttons are now lit up. Now if I could only figure out the bill validator....
