Title: Comparitor Slide Stuck
Post by: jim249 on February 04, 2018, 02:00:05 PM
I tried to replace the quarter in my comparitor, CC16D but the slide is stuck, won't move. Any ideas? I don't want to force it and break something. Thanks for any help!

Turn it over and look at the back and make sure it didn't fall out of it's groove.

There is supposed to be a spring on the back that pulls the sliding cover to the left so that it covers the sample coin (as much as possible, depends on the size of the coin or token). Turn the coin comparitor over and look on the back to see if the spring is there. One time I had one that someone had removed the spring and put a piece of wire in its place, permanently holding the slide cover in place.

Thanks for the replies. I watched a video on how to get it out but mine won't budge. Going to leave it for the tech who sold me this machine.

When the tech takes it out ask him to show you, just in case you ever need to do it in the future.

Does it look like the one in the photo below?

The coomparitor looks the same but the overall picture looks much different. Mine is in a S2000 machine.

That's fine, it's just a photo grabbed from another repair discussion, I wanted to see if you have a coin comparitor or a simple coin mech. I thought the comparitor on your machine would be held in place by 4 snap posts, one on each corner of the comparitor. You just pull each corner forward to pop it loose. But maybe yours is mounted differently.

Check the screw that's circled in Red.. If it has been tightened too tight, you won't be able to slide the comparitor part over to insert the sample coin.

Thanks for all the replies! I finally got it out by removing one corner at a time. The screw was tight and so I loosened it. It was still sticky and hard to slide so I put a bit of silicone on it and it moves much better now but still sticky. My guess is that once a coin is put in, it is never bothered with again. It may have been bad since day one. Thanks again all!!!!

Does it look like a beverage was maybe spilled into it long ago? People in casinos sometimes slosh whatever they are drinking and the liquid lands on the front of the machine, seeps down.

I would just buy a new one..... typically a CC16 is under $25 on ebay.
