Title: Mills (or any other) back door lock "fix"
Post by: shortrackskater on February 02, 2018, 10:03:00 AM
Whoever bought (or stole  :Tongue_Out:) this made a mess of the back door. Instead of drilling out the LOCK, they cut a circle around the lock! A quick and easy fix is to simply glue a large washer where the big hole is. I cleaned the perimeter of the jagged-edged hole, filed down the sharp areas, and epoxied a large washer, painted black, to cover the mess.  Here it is before and after with the new lock installed.

Might not be factory, but if it works who cares. Nice work.

I need to clean up the door and "dull up" the washer.  :Tongue_Out:

You could take a scotch bright pad to it..  :Scratch-Head:

I'll probably try polishing it with the door, using Meguiar's cleaner/wax. I don't really want this slot to look perfect. I'd like this to look like it's  "just off the casino floor" from 1946.
