Title: Bally Alpha Cabiner power issue?
Post by: allen84 on February 23, 2020, 01:32:48 AM
I have a Bally alpha cabinet power issue. Main power seem to work, as it can power on the MPU, and I can hear the door open sound from the speakers when the game from the MPU is fully loaded. The cabinet power seems to be dead? but it seems to be giving out power somewhat, what does the flashing lights mean? I'm thinking it powers the reels, the lighting, red credit leds, and the top monitor?

As you can see in this video, this is what happens. Has anyone seen this problem before?

Which PSU is the cabinet power? The 5v/12v? or the 24v?

**UPDATE**

Problem Solved!

I was googling and I've read up about a hair dryer trick for reviving computer PSU's that exhibited the same problems. So I've applied the same process. I didn't have a hair dryer, so I used a portable electric heater.  When I inspected the PSU's I didn't notice any bulging or damaged capacitors, so they looked ok.

I took each PSU and held it up to the heater for 1 min each, on the exposed side of the PSU. Put both 5v/12v & 24V back in, and it booted it up with no issues.

Replace your 5/12v power supply.
