Title: S6000 Blazing 7’s won’t clear with chips
Post by: Lexluther18 on October 01, 2020, 08:43:12 PM
Hello,

Got the 88ff error code. Checked battery with a multimeter and the battery was bad. Ordered a new battery, installed (volts looking good), and inserted saferam chips. (I have used these before with no problems). Here’s the issue. The red leds, where I’m supposed th see ch C will not even light up. I put the original chips back in and they show 88ff. So I ordered new saferam clear chips thinking something happened to the others. Go through the process and still, red led where 88ff that used to show 88ff, won’t even light up. Put the original chips back in and, BOOM, 88ff. I can’t understand why I get nothing with the saferam chips. I’m holding Test and pseudo but nothing happens. Pleas help. I’m wanting to sell the two machines I have, but can’t sell this one that doesn’t work.

Thanks.

Did you turn on DSW1 #8 on to do the clear.
The attached is the same procedure you should follow with your clear chips.

Isn't that the procedure for onboard clear chips that you attached? He has removable chips. I could be wrong haven't done a 6000 in a while.

Be sure you have the correct polarity on the battery.

I have both the leave in chips and the removable clear. Doesn’t matter which is in, they both return the same result... nothing in the “win paid” or “credit”.  Only when I put the original chips in do I get anything type of readout..88ff

I checked polarity of the battery and it matches the board “+” and “-“.

Very frustrating

See if the battery voltage is reaching the RAM chips. Black lead to lower left pin of each chip, Red lead to upper right pin of each chip.

If the board was not removed from the tray to replace the battery remove it and make sure the very tiny trace on one side of the battery PC pad has not been ripped up by shoving the new battery through hot solder.
