Title: Not one but TWO great deals... POOF! GONE - JUST LIKE THAT!
Post by: shortrackskater on June 19, 2015, 05:47:20 PM
Lost deal number one - A few days ago, I'm trolling CL for slots and see something I missed: not one but two IGT S2000's (5 reel backlits) and a slew of parts... shelves of parts! I message the guy and it's still available. I get busy and forget for a day! (This was where I made my mistake) He messages me the next day and says $200 for everything. The machines were working, by the way. I jump on the offer and tell him I can come Friday (it was Wednesday). We confirm a time for Friday. I check my messages yesterday and get this: "Sorry my dad sold it all."
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I should had dropped everything and came the second he made me the offer.

Lost deal number two - TODAY, I'm trolling CL again and I see a freshly posted ad! Someone's got two EM's from the Pioneer, and old Fortune One. He wants $200 for each of those. BUT he has a early 60's Mills "M" machine (I think... it had the stand with the coin tray) that was definitely weathered but complete. And it was a dime machine. I always wanted a dime machine, even though they jam up. Asking price for that: $50
I immediately send a message. He replies and I tell him I'll come over right now. Fifteen minutes later, I'm looking at this cool machine. Yes it's definitely rough but well worth the $50. I had him the money and I carry the thing down the stairs (those machines are small but heavy!) and into my truck. He rolls the stand out for me. As I'm about to load it in, he answers his phone. I hear "what? huh? don't sell the slots?" I sort of mumble loudly "tell him one is gone already." He hangs up and says something about the person in charge of the estate (he was the son of the deceased) NOT wanting to sell anything yet! OMG! He's very polite to me and apologizes. So we UNLOAD "my" slot and hands me my money back! I did get a message later from him saying they want $150 for it. Close as it is, I don't feel like going back and I already pissed off. It's probably worth it... but it definitely needs a lot of cleaning up... the chrome was rusted and I'm not even sure if it would need re-chroming or not. He messages me later and says they loaded it up on a truck for the local swap meet!  :hissyfit: :hissyfit: :hissyfit:
