Title: G23 bottom half of screen is useless
Post by: brewtoo on January 09, 2022, 08:01:16 AM
Hello,

The bottom half of this G23 is all out of whack, the top is fine. The bottom is crazy with motion, flickering, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

That is usually the A/D board inside the monitor, probably needs to be recapped.

Great! I’d love to repair this. Especially if it’s just capacitors. What does AD stand for and how would I identify the board? Thanks

Analog/Digital converter.  It's the "brains" of the monitor.  You'll know which board it is when you get the back off.  It'll be the one the video connectors are on, or that the cables from the video connectors go to.

I only see two electrolytic capacitors. Am I missing anything? Thanks

The number of caps varies with these monitors, but you should start by replacing the easy radial type caps, then if that doesn't fix it, you will need to replace the surface mounted solid state caps.
