Hi All,
What is the purpose of an LCD inverter? I noticed that this is around 40 to 50 bucks and is fairly easy to access...at least on a Kristal 19" LCD in a WMS BB1. I'm assuming that's what's inside of the rectangular box on the back right hand side of the monitor.
What are the symptoms that lead up to an inverter needing to be replaced?
Thanks,
Jason

Essentially it is the power supply for the cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) backlight in the LCD panel. They typically either work or they don't. If it fails the CCFL will not light and you will have a black screen. LED back lighting in newer LCD panels has replaced both inverters and CCFL tubes.

Perfect! Thanks for the information Tilt!
