Title: Dongle Games
Post by: Newbooty on March 14, 2024, 04:11:28 PM
Hello,

If I have a dongle game and I am changing over to a nondongle game, do i have to remove the dongle?  Do dongles ever go bad from turning the machines on and off?  If so is there a way to back them up?

Thank in advance

You remove dongle.  Some "pros" have been able to clone dongles, but I am no aware on how they do it.  It is a enterprise class DRM key, so it is not something that is easily done by weekend hacks like us.  Dongles like any other solid state device can fail for various reasons, but they are no more prone to breaking that say a USB flash drive.  To date I have not had a dongle fail on me yet, but others here have.

Take good care of your stuff, and store everything properly.  Like Rick, I haven’t had one fail yet.

Thanks,
Jason

I had a buddy who threw some dongles in an S2000 coin tray....left them all in there for a few days.
The dummy forgot there's a big speaker in those coin trays...with a huge magnet.
Guess what happened to every one of his dongles?  :24: :rotfl:

Interesting do they still have them the type storage used in them is not considered sensitive to magnetic fields so they may be repairable. My first thought would be possibly the crystal oscillator was effected.

I don't know exactly what he left in there....but I was told none of them would work afterwards.
He ended up replacing them.
