Persistent Code 61 Error on IGT Sizzling 7
(1/2) > >>
Ldaco:
I acquired an IGT Sizzling 7 slot machine today that had been sitting idle and unplugged for about 2 years. Upon initial startup, I encountered a code 12 error indicating a low battery. After replacing the battery with a new 3.6v 1/2AA, I managed to resolve that issue. However, I'm now facing a persistent code 61 error which I'm struggling to clear.

Initially, when I held down the small white test button, the error would consistently show as 61-1, but now the occurrence has become inconsistent. Following the procedure to clear the 61 error (closing the door, hitting the jackpot reset once), the display briefly goes blank. It then shows a quick flash of "0" for coin in, before reverting to the code 61 error.  Seems like the "61 loop".

I've spent a considerable amount of time researching and trying various fixes. This includes:

- Attempting the painters tape alignment trick for the optical sensors.
- Physically moving the case receiver next to the emitter when closing the door, to no avail.
- Confirming the emitter's functionality by checking its output with my phone camera, which showed it is emitting.
- Removing the receiver and testing it with my multimeter on the continuity setting, observing changes when exposed to light, which suggests it functions at a basic level.
- Making sure the cash box and anything else is seated and closed properly.

My machine details are as follows:

Model: IGT Sizzling 7
Board sticker 1: "75505704 REV A 1894 GTC"
Board sticker 2: "MB96700 75505704 REV B 6/94"

Based on what I've read in the forums, my next step might involve using a clear chip, although I'm not certain which one I need and I'm aware of the cautions against doing so without further advice.

Given the steps I've taken and the inconsistency of the 61-1 error, does anyone have any suggestions on what else I might try? Could the clear chip be my only option, or are there other troubleshooting steps I've overlooked?

The only good news is that when I trigger the jackpot reset key (which I've turned into a button for now), it does cycle through all of the items.  I'm not sure what they all do, but at least it's not a brick.

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. I understand the risks associated with a clear chip and am looking for guidance before proceeding further.

Thank you for your help!

Sounds like the optics are fine.  You are in the 61 loop.  Machine needs cleared and re-setup.  Do you have a clear chip for it?
Ldaco:
I do not.  Just picked it up today.

Do I need a SET chip too?  It has a dollar bill acceptor, which I can hear fire up on start, but I don't think it's ever worked.

I'd be fine just getting the coins to work, but if it makes sense to get both in one purchase it seems like I should consider it if they aren't too expensive.
sixcardmark:
Yes you will.  Contact member RB for both.

Hmmm, I went to the RB profile but I can't see the email as it's hidden and I don't appear to have the ability to send personal messages yet.   RB if you see this please reach out!

I figured out how to send a message.  Thanks for the info!  I've sent a note to RB about this thread
