I picked this beauty up today, a more rare game, 2CM.... I noticed a humming sound coming from the power supply, game runs just fine. Is it normal?
-
A noticeable hum from the power supply wouldn't be normal. Are you sure it's not a ballast or the reels making the noise?

Humming stops when I pull off the 3rd reel. I tried a different reel from a different machine and it doesn’t cause the humming, however this one is backlit so I have to use these original ones... the humming isn’t coming from the reel though... but it stops when I remove reel 3..
Update: it is making humming noise and gets louder the more reels I add back, in any spot. When all removed, no humming.

Hum is in the power supply and not the speakers right?

I can’t tell, sounds like both, but I do hear humming from speakers too... it all stops when I remove the reels.

Power the unit off, take out the MPU and upload a picture of it. Unless you know which version it is.
Thanks,
Jason

Ok, also I did swap power power supplies from other machine, still same humming sound.

try unpluging the light ballast

Take the multimedia board off your MPU and turn the machine in. If the noise goes away then you have the common problem associated with 500 series MPU's and backlit reels which is a grounding problem
-
The humming is caused by a ground problem on the 5XX boards with MMLBs (other than 504b) running backlit reels. If you hot-plug each reel back in the buzzzzz will get louder through the speakers with each reel you plug. 5XX boards have a slight buzz even without the MMLB.

Is there a way to fix?

I've tried to add grounding and got no change. Grab a 504b board and you'll be good to go.

Changing to a 504B is the best option. There are other solutions in this link but in my opinion it may reduce but will not remove the humm

And if you get a 504b MPU (which is what I would suggest), make sure you cut off or desolder the green Varta battery to prevent acid leaking onto the board and killing other components.
Thanks,
Jason

sent you a pm. I have 504B boards available, varta battery removed, tested in a machine by me, coin battery holder installed with a new battery, and a MML board, simm card not included (one can be had for 15.00). 75.00 plus shipping.

I have ran 10’s of thousands of credits through this machine in a week, and haven’t hit anything. It is a very tight game.... why is this?
-
One of two things...
Your machine is putting you through a dry spell and just plain not hitting. Nature of the beast. :)
-or-
The payback percentage is set very low. If that's the case, you can clear your machine and start fresh, ensuring that you have the highest payback percentage set.
Thanks,
Jason

Yeah but in 5000 spins I should’ve hit at least a 100 credit win...

Railroader Travis, check out this discussion about the same problem on a similar machine:

What is the payout percentage set at? If it came from an Indian casino the payout % could be set pretty low. Didn't you just get this machine less than a month ago? I doubt you have run 10s of thousands of credits through it. They are cyclical and do go through long dry spells. You sound like me when I'm playing at a casino pouring real money into a machine. :stirthepot:

I don’t know which casino it came from, but I’d love to know. I know the interior has a scent of the air freshener that casinos use... anyway to find out where it came from? I key chipped the game, I have $1 coins set to 94%, $2 96%, 5 97 and $10 coins 98.6%.
