Title: Bally 6000 no sound issue
Post by: turbodan on March 08, 2017, 07:54:27 AM
I bought a Bally 6000 slot a couple weeks ago. I decided to unplug the speakers the day after I got it because the kids were playing the heck out of it. I plugged the speakers back in yesterday and I have no sound now. Any clue what happened or how to fix?

When you unplugged the speaker and the wires were loose could they have touched the metal chassis and shorted out the audio amp? It is best to tie loose wires like that up into a neat bundle so they are out of the way and not near anything metal they could touch against. Since the sound was working before then it should work now if you simply reconnect the wires and the connections are in good condition.

The slot machine should have a way to adjust the sound volume so you can turn it down instead of having to disconnect the speaker. The usual way to adjust the sound level is either with a volume adjust somewhere inside the machine, maybe on one of the circuit boards. The other way to adjust the sound volume is in the menu settings where you would do preferences and other features.

Thanks for the reply. So it sounds like I will need to replace the audio amp. Is that on the MPU or on the smaller board on the side of the cabinet?

Well, that was just a guess, there could be something else going on, like a blown speaker or a broken speaker wire. Were the speaker wires dangling and could have touched against the metal chassis?

I would check the simpler things before replacing an ic. I'll see if I can find out where the audio amp is, or maybe someone that knows will post a message about it.

If the machine has a small 4 X 4 board on the left side wall next to the reels it's a pro sound. That may be the issue, if not the sound is on the MPU.

I have a proslot 6000, no side board, so I assume the sound is from the mpu.
Do not get start up sounds.  Other sounds all seem to work correctly.  The u it produces a very annoying sound from speaker at all times...high pitched, quieter than main sounds but I think I have an issue with sound somewhere
