Title: Bally OS software versions, question
Post by: slotdoofus on June 14, 2017, 12:46:43 PM
I have several bally alpha games in my collection now. All of them are operating on 336-0X OS software

I bought a couple kits that included 317-02 OS software. I'm guessing that I can still run these game softwares in machine that currently have 336-0X in them.

Does running a different OS software with a game make the game behave any differently?....for instance: would the reels remain back-lit while they are spinning, like my Black Star? My guess is....the back-lit reels during spins is controlled by the game software, NOT the OS software.

Is that correct?

If I were to install the 317 OS, I'm guessing I'd need a clear card for version 317. The only clear card I have right now is for 336.

Thanks, in advance, for any help.

The answer is NO. It does not change behavior of the game. Most of the changes on the OS has to do with backend options. You have a good OS with 336 so dont bother going backwards.

Thanks for the quick answer....

So....the back-lit wheels, while spinning IS controlled by the game software...NOT the OS?

Any lighting features is ran by the software.

For example, I have a Super Candle running on all my Alphas. Old games don't use it so no lighting effects vs new games that utilize it. Same thing on how the lighting works on the reels, bezel, top reel lights, etc.

The software also tells where the reels should land and behave.
