Title: No Clean Solder Wire from Kester 245 Flux Cored
Post by: gwslotting on August 25, 2020, 08:52:56 AM

Kester they say is the gold standard for quality solder wire. The 245,  expensive stuff,  $29/lb,  but gets excellent review on the web. Does not have to deal with removing left over flux most of the time, especially for slot machine circuitry

I am still confused between their 63/37 and 60/40, "no clean".  Some are more "rosin activated" than others, thus eating away the solder tip much faster. I read one complaint somewhere from Amazon.com buyer that one of their formulations, not all, eats away the solder iron tip very quickly. But then when buying from Amazon.com, shipping the customer the wrong product is not unusual.

Anyone uses this expensive stuff to avoid the hassle of removing left over flux, but their solder tips wears out much quicker?
