Title: Newby with questions and problems....
Post by: crackerjack222 on May 16, 2016, 06:21:32 AM
Just found this site and registered.  My immediate problem is with an IGT Video Poker machine, Model No:1076C, Descpt: Poker, Date: 7/87, SN: 162nnn, 5-cent coins only.  I have had the machine 20 years with no real problems until now.  Wife was playing it yesterday and got a 30 coin payout.  The machine paid some coins then displayed "Call Attendant" and has a message on the screen of: "coin out, time out".  Opening and then closing the door results in a  7-coin dispense.  This 7-coin dispense repeats each time the door is opened then closed.  Cycling the jackpot reset switch has no effect.  I dont see any coins hung up nor any other obvious cause.
Can someone tell me the correct name for this machine? (PE, PE+, 701.....???)
Is there a source for a service manual for this machine?
Any suggestions for trouble shooting my current problem? Maybe cleaning an optical switch on the dispenser?  Clean with alcohol and q-tip?
I have photos but have not transferred to my computer.

Welcome to NLG. I don't know anything about those video poker machines but here is a link to the forum. Scroll down to Video poker and PE and PE+. Maybe you can find out some about your machine.

My first inclination would be to clean the  coin path with just a dry qtip. I don't know on that machine if it has optics or a switch to count coins leaving the hopper. If you want to use a cleaner, try a moist qtip using windex or the same stuff you use on your cell phone screen.

Cowboy, the coin dispenser has what looks like an optical switch (U-shape with wires attached) that the coins pass by on the way to the tray.  If I clean it as you suggest, then what? How do I then reset the machine?

you shouldn't have to. If you turn it off, clean it and reinsert the hopper the machine should never know it was out. If it still has coins to pay, it will pay them. If not, play it to a win and find out if it worked

:applause:   Well, I cleaned the sensor and all is working now

Thanks, Cowboy.

I know I am on borrowed time tho, I have had this machine and a IGT "Double Diamond" slot for a little over twenty years without changing the battery.

Now, if I could just get the jukebox working again......

BTW, can anyone tell me how to identify this machine, the video poker?  And, how can I get a manual for it?

If you could post two pictures of the machine, one outside and one inside, that would help to confirm the model.

Glad you got it going! Thank the slot machine gods and knock on wood it was a simple fix. After 20 years things could really get crappy

The Fortune I or 701 has a single circuit board mounted over the monitor. A Fortune II  has 2 circuit boards, actually 3 (IO & Sound on same tray)  mounted on the top of the monitor. The PE & PE+ have the curcuit boards in the bottom by the hopper. I believe the PE had its board on the back wall behind the hopper, and the PE+ was mounted on the left wall along the hopper.

Reminds me of an IGT Player's Edge, but I am not expert on these.

What is that round white thing under the green tape, over to the left side of the player's button panel?

The round white thing under the green tape is a bottle cap taped over the "Cash Out" key.  That keeps the grandkids from emptying the hopper :Tongue_Out: .  If you can see the screen it is showing about 990 credits.

Good thinking!

(I was thinking it looked like one of those round chlorine tablets they put in bar urinals
but people say I should expand my thinking more)   :garfield:

Looks like a PE..

Agreed, I believe it's a Player's Edge (PE) (non-plus).
