Title: Summit Slot Controller Board Replacement
Post by: TheDetectorGuy on August 08, 2016, 01:10:14 AM
looks like my new hobby is trying to fix old slot machines, pretty fun so far.

I think this board is the controller board but looks like battery did a number on it.

Any one have a replacement  or know where I can get one?
I guess it's from a  Summit slot model 106

Any help would be appreciated, I love the look on the glass for this machine would like to get it working

Carl, that is a Summit coin Limited machine. But Not a Summit Systems machine. They're 2 different machines. I'm telling you this so you don't get steered to the S/Systems parts as they are completely different. Replacements for these are no where to be found. I have one of these machines and had the battery issue also. I sent mine to K-Lar in Las Vegas and they were able to fix mine. They don't have any way to test them, because of  the age and rarity. They repaired the traces, put in a new battery and it has worked ever since. K-Lars number is: 702-363-9998. I'll attach a pic of my board before I sent it in. The angle is different but you can see they are the same board. I haven't found anyone else on here who has one of these, so there isn't much info. The pins that the board plugs into have a tendency to oxidize. I use an eraser to try to clean them. There's your start. Good Luck. I'll add a pic of my machine too.

Thank for the info!

Just an update I cleaned up the board and put it in , and at least it's doing something now....

It starts beeping every few seconds, don't know what it means but at least the processeor board is doing something now.

If anyone has any ideas please chime in..

Thanks!

Carl

Do you have the alarm reset key for it? It fits in the top key hole on the side. If the tag is still on it, it will be the one marked attendant. The bottom one is for accounting. If you have the key, try turning it. It will cancel the alarm. If it comes right back there is a problem somewhere. When I put my board back in, I got the alarm too and could not clear it. I checked in the back on the power unit and had 2 fuses blown. I replaced them and it fired right up. I don't think the battery is used for game play. There is no way of changing settings, so I think the battery was for accounting purposes in the Casino. Probably not needed at all. I hope you get it going.......Good Luck.

Ok I rechecked the fuses and  50v fuse was blown (wasn't before) replaced it. When I turn on the machine  the call attendant light flashes and. It beeps every few seconds, and when I activated the attendant key the hopper now turns on , so I kept feeding it quarters , but no changes. I tried machine still beeping pushing the  hopper fill button and other buttons nothing seems to change. Just a note the center panel lights are out and when I first got machine when the processor was doing weird things it would also light up ocaissionalu and sometimes got slot machine sounds almost like a short somewhere. I keep feeding the hopper in case it's in some type of jackpot mode that needs resetting, but I don't have a Manual .

I Think I'm getting closer but I don't know. If the processor has enough logic to make it beep and flash attendant light, and activate hopper on reset I assume it might be working.

On your machine how many cards are in it? Mine looks like it might be missing one?

Or was that for optional progressive slot mode?

Attached is a picture of my card, again as alway thank you all for any info you may have.

OK Carl, I've attached a picture from my machine. I saw this first thing looking at your picture. The 2 board cards are transposed. This is the second time I have seen a picture of one of these machines with those cards swapped. That machine wasn't working either. Now that being said, I can't swear to you that these machines are all built exactly alike. Maybe they are sometimes different. The other machine was identical to mine. And I can't imagine them not building them all alike. Maybe swap the boards and give it a shot. Yours sounds like a lot of strange things going on. I've never seen another working one so I can't be sure. This is going to be your call. Make sure to check both boards and the pins they plug into to make sure everything will fit. All holes line up etc. I can't tell you this will fix it. All I know is what I see. I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't do damage to anything.
