Title: bally e2000 start up error code 1.....6

i had a working e2000 that i havent used in a few weeks.  now its not working. battery is a new lithium with a diode, right now its at 3.03 volts.  im getting immediate error code 1....6 . sometimes the 1 will change  to a 2, then back to 1. after a few seconds the 1st digit may just flicker.   i reseated the rom chips and checked my voltages. 4.9, 7.2, 9.8  . no cracked headers or burned connectors.

any ideas?

pulled the mpu, the socket for u30 had a little battery corrosion. replaced the socket, and ringed it out, its good.  now on start up i get
.....1   .  hopefully thats better?  the cable from the mpu to the IO card, the bottom left pin broke off. i will get a new end put on the cable, but not until i get it to boot properly.   would that one pin affect the boot?

sounds like the ribbon cable is your problem..

hopefully solved.  i had the ribbon cable repaired with a new connector at an electronic supplier.  installed it, same old thing,
1....6  in the display . started pushing the reset like a maniac, and i noticed the display digits started to change.  next thing i know its working. ive turned it on and off multiple times, so far , so good,
