Title: S2000 payline display, Crystal 7's, 5 reel, 9 line / help needed
Post by: slotdoofus on August 20, 2017, 03:17:52 PM
I purchased a 5 reel, 9 line Crystal 7's kit a few months ago. Just got around to installing....

My reel glass has the 3-3-3-6 type payline display windows. When installed, the display doesn't function properly. The game works fine with the other type payline digital display, (double digit per payline type). Is there a way to make my 3-3-3-6 display work with this kit?

Doen't work right doesn't tell us a lot. What is it not doing right?

The game plays, but the payline digital display doesn't show the number of lines played and bet per line properly.

If you did a game conversion could this problem be due to not having the right SG or SB or VS chip on the mpu board?

I don't know...I'm still learning this stuff as I go along.

Here's what I have installed:

504 CPU
SG000363
SB100940 (9 line, 90 credit)
VS011NX5

If I install the double-digit 9 line display, it works as it should.

Just hate to have to look for another reel glass.

I know just enough about the S2000 to be moderately dangerous with advice.   :garfield:

But I think that game features and operations often depend on the socketed chips on the mpu board.

One of the S2000 experts will check in soon or maybe tonight and you'll get the answer.

You might want to try SG000598 with the deck you are using.
363s are generally used on 5 button decks what door I/O cards are you using? Swapping positions may help but I doubt it.

I have the 801 in the diagonal slot, and a 802 in the vertical.

I have some 598's. I'll try those tomorrow.

The game plays, but the payline digital display doesn't show the number of lines played and bet per line properly.

Can you take pictures of the harness connections?

I don't think that display is compatible for 9 line play. I could be wrong, but changing the SG chips should prove it out. I just don't recall seeing that display used on a 9 line game before

So....my reel glass isn't for a 9 line game?

Ken,

Exactly what should I take pictures of?

Ken,

Exactly what should I take pictures of?

See if the harnesses are connected the same as in the picture. See I/O card connections.

I re-arranged the harnesses to the I/O's so they are connected the same as what you have pictured.

I have the same results as before.

I have seen the same thing before but I very seldom write something down.

I know SG369s work with that set up.

Unfortunately, I don't have any 369's lying around.

I'll check w/ Ron to see if he can get me some.

Try the 598s first.

Installing the 598's seems to have done the trick.

Thanks a bunch for the help guys.

I enjoy learning this stuff...but some things, like having to use specific SG chips on certain games, just puzzles the hell out of me.

I guess, some things are never meant to be understood...LOL

 :Scratch-Head:

Thanks again guys.

In general, I've been told to use 598's for 5 reel machines and 363's for 3 reel machines.  Obviously some exceptions apply, but I use that as a guideline and if it doesn't work, then there's NLG.  :cool_thumb_up:

Rick,

What about 4 reel machines? 598's?

I don't have 4 reel machines, but yes, as IGT started to come out with the 4 and 5 reel themes to be more volatile, I believe the newer chips support a wider variety of peripherals.

Im my experience (6 years working on s2000s currently around 80 of them in inventory). For standard no bonus games I always run 363 on 50x boards on enhanced boards i try 363s on 3 real machines if it doesn't work i use 598. All the 4 reeler machines i have worked on hve been rbords. 5 reel enhnced i have rarely used anything other than a 598. As for sb if i have one that supports enhanced sound i usually use that if not i uses the newist chip i have on hand( when i get machines the software is usually just thrown in boxes). A lot of later sb chips have a configurable bet per line setting. I just built an identical machine I think it was set for 9 line 40 credit per line so 360 max bet. One of my favorite games not sure why.
