Steve has a controlling interest in the company based on the number of shares he owns.
So he might not have the title of CEO, COO or such but whatever he wants done with the company ... ie buy this / buy that / develop etc will still get done, and done his way.
He gives up his $1/yr salary but anytime he wants money he just orders the board to declare a dividend to his special class of shares .....
