Title: Wiring a power supply for IGT S2000 King Cash machine
Post by: sparky77 on July 22, 2014, 03:53:19 PM
Hello all.  I'm new here and I don't know a lot about slot machines but from looking around at some of the forum topics it has definitely piqued my interest!

I am having an issue with trying to power a slot topper.  A customer of mine decided to put the slot machine he bought in an area that was too short for the machine.  We had to remove the topper for it, and after seeing the topper in another location, he decided he wanted the topper to light up and asked me to "hook it up"....I am an electrical contractor, but trying to power up this topper has presented some challenges!  I don't know the following:

- the voltage of the power supply for the LED lighting around the outside of the topper?
- the voltage for the fluorescent light inside the topper?
- is there any kind of combo power supply for both?

I have pictures of the machine, and I know it is an IGT S2000 from Barcrest.  I have included a picture of the machine.

HELP!

Welcome to NLG sparky77.

You might look over these posts from the old site and find something useful.

If it is a IGT topper
The LED ring needs 12-14VDC - 13V DC is the normal voltage but hard to find Power supply at 13V best to use 12V
Do not wire the LED ring backwards you will blow its fuse and a 5V voltage regulator (it cant handle 12-14V reversed)
The Fluorescent Electronic Ballast is 24-26V Best to use 24V, make sure you ground the ballast.

You can use two 12V power supplies wired in series.

Like this  the power supply outputs are wired in series to create 2 output voltages

positive ------------------> 24V to Fluorescent ballast positive
PS 2
negative -----------------> connect to the positive terminal of PS 1

positive ------------------> +12V to LED ring board
PS 1
negative -------------------> negative for both LED and fluorescent ballast

Just to prevent any issues make sure you do not put the LED board across the upper power supply (PS 2) terminals even though its still 12v across its output only.

IF you have the harness
Red is 13V(12V) positive connection
Black with red stripe is negative (ground)
Orange is 25V(24V) positive
Black Orange negative (ground)

The 2 negatives can be tied together
But make sure you connect the ballast ground to earth ground - in the machine it has 3 grounds (one for 13V, one for 25V and safety or earth ground) they are tied together in the switching Power Supply (similar to a computers PS but only outputs 2 voltages instead of 5 voltages needed for most desktop PC's)
