Title: Bally Alpha 2 Install Media backup
Post by: PDuble on April 08, 2020, 10:20:31 AM
I have a Bally Alpha 2 machine which is currently running a UFL By the Bay.  I recently purchased a new title for it (north shore), which came on a 32 GB USB Flash drive.  I was able to install the game, but I would like to make a backup copy of the flash drive in case it becomes corrupt, damaged or lost. Is this as simple just copying the files on to a new flash drive, or would it need to be cloned?  Would I also need to get the same model flash drive?

You can just copy the files and save them to your hard drive.  The install program requires a Bally OEM flash drive since it has it's own custom firmware on it, if you use a generic flash drive, it will not work (it will tilt with a "no USB Install media" message).  You can also copy the files to an NTFS formatted CF card that has enough capacity to hold the files form the thumbdrive, that will also work.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know.
