Just put a new battery on this board & did a clear & adjusted the settings, closed the door & the machine will not go into ready to play mode, reels 1 & 3 won't set. Getting a 4.0. In the win/pay window. What can I check for?
-
I would try another clear. Sounds like the reels did not calibrate. After you clear it and move the jumper and reinstall the MPU, turn it on , keep the door open , the reels will rotate then stop and then show 50 on the display?
After Replacing the MPU Assembly and switch machine
power ON. The machine will enter a Reel Calibration
procedure whereby the home position is recorded in
SafeRAMâ„¢. For tilt-free operation it is important that the
procedure completes without interruption
-
Just did another complete clear, put the jumper back on the 2 legs, reinstalled the MPU, left the door open and still the same, reels 1 & 3 continue to spin slow, the only one that stops is reel number 2. Do I need to set the dip switches a certain way before or after I clear it?
-
No need to change dip switches. Swap reels 1 & 2 to see if the problem follows the reel.
-
Are you performing the clear properly? The jumper goes on the two legs to do the clear, then you put the jumper on one leg after the clear.
-
Yes sir, I did just like that
-
Did this machine work before this? Try swapping the reels
-
No idea, I bought it in non working condition
-
I moved the reels, still just one of them is stopping, the other 2 continue to spin & won't calibrate
-
I replaced all 3 reel assemblies with 3 from another working machine and now reels 2 & 3 are stopping after they calibrate but reel number 1 stays spinning slowly & won't stop
-
I turned the jackpot key on the right side with the front door open & all 3 reels did stop finally but I'm now getting a 4.3. In the win pay window & the bill v as validator won't stop cycling & just stays lit Red, not green.Could I have a power supply issue causing this?
-
Have you verified the MPU board has no issues?
-
Other than the dead battery & clear that's all I've done with the MPU board, what can I check on the MPU?
-
I highly recommend sending it in to get tested. It may have some gremlins in it that you would never find. KLAR can test and repair these boards.
-
I would try the basic things, reseat you wiring connections at the mother board. Then try swapping out the PS. If your problem Continues, then I would assume it’s the MPU board.
-
Yes power supplies are a common problem on these models.
-
Got it working now with another MPU but the JCM DBV-200 just cycles 10 times then stops but it won't light up green at the bill entrance & the sound is not working at all. I checked behind the belly door & the speaker is plugged up & the volume on the front of the MPU is turned up. Any idea what I can do t get my sound to work & to get the bill acceptor working? Thanks
-
Another common problem for no sound is bad speaker. Test the speaker with a ohm meter and see if it has any resistance. Open the top of the DBV and clean the upper and lower optics with a damp cloth of just water.
-
Just checked the speaker and it showed 6.8 in my meter. I cleaned the upper & lower optics on the bill validator & it's still cycling we 10 times, stops and still stays lit up in red. Still no sound either
-
The bill validator did start working finally. For what it's worth, I am getting a high pitched hum from the speaker behind the belly glass but still no reel spin sounds, button sounds, roll up sounds, etc. Is there a dip switch setting or a setting in the menu that could be the culprit?
-
Did you rotate the pot for the volume back and forth a few times?
-
I did, still no sound but when I press the spin reels button I do hear a series of clicks coming from the speaker so it seems like sound is attempting to come thru
-
The sound section can go bad on those boards, you are getting clicking so the amplifier section is working so I would try changing out the melody generator, it's part number usually starts with AY or YM depending on the manufacturer.
-
Where is the melody generator located, is it a pocketed chip on the MPU?
-
Do you have another speaker to hook up to be 100% sure yours is good.
-
Where is the melody generator located, is it a pocketed chip on the MPU?
Usually a socketed chip, 40 pins.
-
Thanks, I'll check for it tomorrow
-
I just changed out that 40 pin sockets chip, it was U51, just to the left of the bank of dip switches & now I am getting sound from the spin reels button but no sound during the spin or on a win. I checked the speaker again with my ohm meter & its showing 6.6. Shouldn't it be 8ohms?
-
I know how important voltages can be so could this sound issue also be a power supply issue or possibly a faulty backplane?
-
Not likely. It's still on your board. You could send the board to my shop so I can out it n my S5500 tester.
PM me if so.
-
Do you repair 5500 MPU boards as well? I may keep this one for now
-
Yes, we have the board tester and all parts necessary to get them going.
