I want to eliminate the cash can on the S+ . How does the acceptor know whether or not the can is installed? Is there a switch or optic that tells it its installed and in place. I see the optics on the side to sense a full cash box, but I can not figure out how it knows if the can is installed and in place. Thank You Tim

As far as I know those optics are the only sensor. They must also be used to detect if the can is present.
Maybe the cycle of blocked, then open, as the can cycles when power is applied and when a bill is inserted is the key.
If the can is full that cycle won't be seen and the bill acceptor will not allow any more bills.
If the can is not present the cycle won't be seen and the bill acceptor will not allow any bills.
Try that, block the optics then unblock them and see if a bill drops through.
Figure out the proper timing for valid detect and re-create with some electronics. You will probably also need to detect the stacker cycle motor is
on before doing the optic dance simulation.

There is a member here that cut out part of the cash box so that he could just open the door in front and the bills were just laying there. I think he used a band saw.

OK. I was hoping I could block some optics permanently and forget the can. I will do some experimenting. Thank You Tim

Hello sunrise side,
I am the person Ken with Ohio Gaming referred to about eliminating the cash box. I have six of his machines an I altered the boxes on all of them. It works out great. As he said, "you open the belly door and the cash is just laying there" I cut the boxes just front of the pins that are on the side of the box so it will still latch in. I used a fine toothed blade in a jig saw. Any questions call me at 440 944 3518

OK. When I get back into this project I may have to give you a jingle. Thank You for the response! Tim
