Title: Kortek Distortion
Post by: Firebird on January 11, 2016, 05:06:34 PM
I have a Kortek 1703 monitor that has some distortion in the screen on the left hand side of the screen. I have not been able to find the cause of the distortion as yet and was hoping one of you more experienced techs might may able to send me in the right direction to fix this. I have post a picture of the distortion.

This can sometimes be caused by the video cable.  Worth a quick swap with a known good one just to test it.  Beyond that you might be looking at changing out the caps on the A/D board for a fix.

Can you adjust the screen control on the flyback and mitigate that at all? I would look at the caps in the horiz circuit and check the output of the horiz output transistor if adjusting doesn't work. Should be 130v

Hi firebird

I was strolling through the topics to find a solution for my issue. I'm not sure, if you still need a answer.

Distortion on a CRT could come from magnetic influences (or magnetized metal). CRTs can be de-magnetized with a special coil…
