When the monitor is powered up in the game it shows a bright over driven half of the screen and in the background is the faint image of the cards.
The white slowly fades away revealing more of the cards and in about 3 minutes there is a perfect picture with no more over drive.
I replaced the 220uF 200v cap that usually causes overdrive problems but that did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions?

High voltage transistor on the side of the monitor.

Ok, I'll try that - replace the HOT.

The HOT was the wrong part number for a 1493, they suggest a 5690 and there was a 1651 installed.
BUT replacing the HOT did not solve the problem.
I replaced the regulator IC and the 1000 uF caps and the 220 uF next to the regulator IC and that fixed the problem.
Theory is the 27VDC supply was slowly building up to the 27V value.

Thanks for the update. We always like to hear about the resolution.
