M Slot reel sensor

Hi all, would anyone know what the components on the reel sensor is, is it a phototransistor and infrared red led?

IR, slot optics with 2 leads for the transmitter (IR diode) 2 leads for the receiver(IR transistor).
The cutout notches are on the edge of the reel basket, the slot optic component reads the number of cutout gaps to get reel position.
