Title: Suitable replacement speakers for S6000?
Post by: lowlimitlootlane on March 30, 2024, 08:53:46 PM
Hello,

I purchased my first slot machine, a Bally 6000 slot, as-is which is working correctly. I have the ProSound board to the left of the reels mounted to the cabinet wall from what I can see.
I recently opened the top cabinet to investigate the speakers feeding back the sound of  the "reels spinning and stopping" in the form of noise. The speakers are quiet when not actively spinning, but when the reels would spin it is picking up the sound, maybe a ground came loose.

In any case the speakers look to be original and falling apart. Are there any suitable replacements someone can recommend. From reading the manual I am not sure how many ohms in the original cabinet speakers, but I think I just need a pair of 3 Inch Mini Full Frequency Audio Speakers,4ohm 5W. Any one with any guidance? It would be much appreciated.

For anyone following along, I went ahead and replaced all three speakers. This alone fixed the mechanical noise I was experiencing when the reels were spinning and stopping. All in all it cost me $40 because the 3inch speakers weren't in stock locally.

Here is what I ordered, everything was plug and play except on the top cabinet speakers I had to change the female slid connector onto the speaker as the old connecter was smaller.

These were used in the top cabinet, $4.99 a piece / $9 shipping

This was used as the bottom speaker. $20 / Amazon Prime free shipping

I hope this helps someone. For now I am going to go back to spinning some reels without unnecessary mechanical feedback noise.
