Title: Coin comparator led not on, but seems to work anyway?
Post by: mjz on July 20, 2020, 01:41:58 PM
I have a 24v AC coin comparator used in an IGT S+ machine. I noticed when I opened the front panel that the CC LED is not lit. It seems to work anyway registering quarters as entered. Do I still need to replace it?

That is normal, the led does not light up on the S+ unless the door is closed.  If you do the diagnostic testing of the comparitor, the light come on.

How do you do a diagnostic test on the coin comparator? I have an S+ as well and I noticed the light is not on for the comparator and the machine shows insert coin but will not take them. The coins keep going right into the tray

The light only works with the door closed.

Change the sample coin.

Bottom right of the comparitor is a sensitivity adjustment. Turn clockwise until it stops. Then counter clockwise.
