Hello, looking for some advice on my 2005 IGT The Frog prince 5 reel with the monitor above it. I purchased the game not working. I installed a new battery on the main board and the also the computer board. The machine turns on but the upper monitor never comes on. It says display passes self test. The fan is running for the upper computer behind the monitor. I recently also replaced the upper power supply that is located right behind the monitor with no luck. Thanks Matt

The fan on top of the top box is powered by the power supply behind the reels. That will not indicate the top box is getting power..
Open the top box and see if any red LEDs on the motherboard are lit. Try removing and reinstalling the two stick memory cards in the top box. Do this more than once to help remove any corrosion on the contacts.
Usually if the top box is doing nothing at all it's the power supply, memory sticks as noted above, or the motherboard has gone bad.
What does the bottom display say? Does it ever get to "Waiting for video display" or display passes self test is all you are getting.

Also post a picture of the game (full face) and a picture of the lower CPU with the chips visible.

I pulled out the 2 memory sticks and reinstalled them. There are 2 red lights that are on, on the mother board. Here are some pictures of the game. It also says waiting for video display.

OK if you are getting waiting for the video display the bottom CPU is working and waiting for the top box handshake.
It appears the top box is getting power.
Is the fan running above the Intel chip with the heat sink?
Are you getting any beeps or noise from the top box board when you power it up?
Remove and reseat the memory sticks three or four times each.
There are some bulging caps by the heat sink. This is not uncommon but will eventually stop the motherboard from functioning.

After pulling out and resetting the memory sticks 4 times the upper monitor now boots up!!! I attached a picture of the screen. Not sure really what to do next?

Perfect!
Now this next part may be easy depending on what kind of old computer parts you have kicking around.
You will need to find a computer keyboard with a PS2 plug on it. (Small round purple plug).
USB keyboard will not work.
With the machine off plug the keyboard into the side of the top box. Turn on the machine and keep pressing the delete key. A bios screen should come up. Set the time and date. Then look for "load optimized defaults "
Press that key and save.
Turn off power, remove keyboard and turn on.
Let me know what happens next.

Hi Rich, I plugged the keyboard in. Set the date and time, and also uploaded the optimized defaults. I was able to get to the menu on setting up the machine. I set the domination and tito. Not sure what else I need to check? It now comes up with a machine type mismatch, closure M.

You may have to key the machine to change or it may let you change it without a key chip you must navigate to machine type 7.1.6 and set to upright.

After switching it to upright. The machine had been working great for a week straight. Not sure what happened the other night the upper screen and small screen below the reels are no longer showing any display. The machine turns on but not doing anything at this point. Not sure if the power supply went bad. Thanks Matt

Are any of the lights on the machine coming on?
What does the VFD say?
If the VFD says waiting for video display then there is a problem with the top box

Nothing is showing on the VFD. The background light comes on, on the VFD and monitor.

Bill validator doesn't cycle anything?

Hi Rich, I plugged it in again. The bill validator doesn't cycle at all. Also all 8 lights on the main board stay lite up.

Red lights also lit on MPU?
Remove the MPU and turn machine on and let me know if the validator cycles and the top box boots to initialize

Correct, the red light is lit. I pulled the mpu and the upper monitor booted right up. The bill validator did not cycle. It says Netplex link is down.

With the mpu removed the BV doesn't cycle?
