When i turn it on it all comes up and the pay out counter just keeps going and i get a lot of error messages on the screen.. Battey low, 24v failed door open... printer failed, bad rom... and more..

The first thing is where is the battery on this board? I cant seem to find it... Is it a chip?

That is a Bally Maverick. It will require a clear chip be installed for a full clear (and to put in the Bally secret code) before it will work.

I have fixed 4 of those in 6 years and every one needed a new Dallas chip then a clear.

PM me for more info.

Hello NLG Members,

its been some time since I have been on the site....

I am in the same deli-ma with a Bally Maverick BAYOU video poker...

Who is offering any support these days?
"Clear Chips"
"Secret Code"
"Replacement Dallas chip"

And where is the battery located? Is the battery incorporated in the chip?

I know I have to pull the board out..... To replace the battery

The RAM chip is actually a NvRAM and has a Lithium battery incorporated within it.

When that battery inside goes dead the entire NvRAM has to be replaced then a clear chip has to be ran to get the game back up.

Bad news is Dallas Semiconductor made them years ago and when they got bought the company that bought them discontinued making that type of NvRAM.

The NvRAM can sit on the shelf for years because the battery is not connected to the internal RAM until it is put in a socket and detects external power. Then a "switch" inside connects the battery to the RAM circuit.

Good news is call Larry at K-LAR 702-363-9998 after 11AM PST and he may be able to help you out.

I spoke with Larry today......

$75 to the door for a Clear Chip & a Dallas chip. Seems Reasonable since he is the only option I currently have....

"He who hold the key makes the rules"   :hail:

Durring out 5 min conversation I mentioned the code that needs to be keyed in.... he seemed puzzled by the comment..... :Scratch-Head:

Does anybody want to chime in?

Greetings everyone,

I just got back from repairing a friends Bally Maverick. Its seems like it took forever....  the machine is located in San Francisco about 2 hours from where i am located at.

I turned the power on and the machine was back in business, no code necessary as mentioned in previous post......
Thanks for all the HELP....
