Jim has been ill for some time now ever since he was severely injured in an auto accident.  Broke his neck in 5 places and was lucky to be alive, but has been in pain ever since, with complications from all the pain meds he was taking, had to close up his business since he could hardly walk. I talked to him the day before he passed away, told me his kidney (he had only one) was failing and had heart issues.  I had been trying to get in touch with him ever since and decided to google him only to discover he passed away.  It is odd that he passed away on the 9th and was buried on the 26th, so it may have been some time before they discovered his body since he lived alone.

Jim was a great guy, rough around the edges but had a heart of gold in my opinion. I bought my first machine from him, and 4 more after that.  He will  be missed.

Wow so sad. I had bought parts from Jim years ago. I remember the huge sell off of his business last year. Way too young, but I can understand what he was going through. I my self have similar problems, but mine from a degenerative back issues. I worked on my feet for 35 year on hard concrete floors, and being 6’3” tall I worked bent over a lot.

R.I.P. Jim.. May you now be in Gods care, and pain free..

Jim was exceptionally knowledgeable on WMS slots, helped me several times over the years. Very sorry that he left us so soon in his life.

RIP, Blueridge. You had a wealth of knowledge when it came to slots. For those that could get past your rough exterior, you were a friend, who would do what he could to help someone with a problem. Rest, my friend, the pain is over. You will be missed and we are the lesser from your passing.

Just so sad to hear this,

Jim was a true Icon in my book
his knowledge of slots and different platforms was truly amazing.

I bought so many parts from him over the years
stuff that nobody had, always packed so well it could have
been dropped off a mountain and survived.

I spoke to him on the phone many times over the years
which usually lasted a good hour,he always made me laugh
and I usually learned something by the end of it.

RIP Jim...You Will Be Missed

I talked on the phone with Jim often but the 1st time we talked about 15 years ago was something else.
Me, being hard of hearing and from up north, could NOT understand a damn thing he said!
Back then, I was like "Jim! Where the heck you from?!?! "  :rotfl:

I'll tell you one thing though, the man knew his stuff.
It's true, he wasn't doing too good the last couple of years.
Big guy couldn't get around much anymore.
I'll miss Jim...

R.I.P. big guy.

Very sad to hear this!  I had nothing but positive experiences with him and he was always very patient and helpful whenever I talked with him.

RIP in Jim - always had a great relationship with him - there are so many members of our hobby that have passed away - people whom have gone with little or no mention - without them our hobby would not be what it is today - some who were instrumental in getting the laws changed to allow all of us the legal right to own machines.  So of those that come to mind Tom Krahl  Frank Zygmunt Alan Sax Mort Lashman to name a few.

Wow!  This is a small community we have.  Jim, as I knew him, lived in the same town as my mother.  We spoke for a long time about slots and good eats in the area.  We spoke many times and never had a cross word between us.  Tragic.

May his Spirit Rise Like Ra!

Geez, sorry to hear/read this.  Jim was a great guy who had lots of slot machine knowledge, and always had a line on software that was hard-to-find.  RIP, Jim.
