Title: Printer Disconnected error on MK6 machine
Post by: techtoons on September 11, 2020, 04:07:28 PM
Hi,

I've got an MK6 machine running Timber Wolf, my wife's favorite game. She was using it up until last Sunday when it stopped and popped up a Printer Disconnected error. When I looked at the error log, it said "printer not authenticated."

I looked up the error in my Aristocrat MK6 Manual, and it said something about "open the main door, check looming, and reconnect the printer. Close door.

What does 'looming' mean in this context? I was thinking it might be the way the paper fans or something, but have no clue.  :Scratch-Head:

Anyone?

Thank
-Jay

Looming is the harness.

Thanks Laneman,

I appreciate it. The coiled cable's outer covering (rubber) is disintegrating. The wires appear intact, but I haven't pulled it completely out. The machine gets little movement, and I haven't filled the ticket hopper in a while, so I wasn't thinking a break or short. Looks like I need to pull it completely and take a look.

Heavy troubleshooting today. I went though the cable with a continuity checker, and all pins on one end appear to be connected to ones on the other end. I checked all pins so I could see if there was a short across any two, and didn't find any.

When the printer is connected, the lights on the printer say "Ready" and "Open". It won't let me add/feed paper either.

I swapped out the Future Logic printer Gen2 RS232 (original) printer for a newer Gen2 Universal, supposedly programmed for Aristocrat. It was throwing Signature mismatch errors in the logs and on the screen, now in addition to the printer not connected. There's only one driver in the Audit menus and it's a Future Logic / Seiko. I know Seiko and Future Logic parted ways, so I'm wondering if the older machine doesn't support a newer printer. :/

I looked at all connectors and everything seemed to be seated, but I probably need to double check connectors against a map to make sure I know which controls the printer.

Anyone got any suggestions.

Thanks in advance
-Jay

Well, all is good with my MK6. I got some tech support from the company I bought the printer from, and learned something new.

The issue with the new printer was that I had to reset the Printer Seed value under the Miscellaneous menu in the Audit menus. Once set, it refound the printer and all is good (wife's having a ball playing again after 3 weeks down).

I bought the printer (light plug here) from Maverick International on ebay. The support was worth the cost :)

I am having similar problems with my printer...Do you remember or does anyone know what that seed value is and/or mean?
