So just replaced my back up battery on the motherboard for my $.25 Double Diamond Deluxe, now when I power it up I get a 61 code, When I push the reset button 2 sec I get a (bing) sound and the the display goes 61-1, I close the door all the way and turn the reset key once quick. All the lights go off, the insert coin and credit flash a few times, then the error 61 comes back on.
What do I do next?
-
You are in the 61 61-1 loop. You have to use a clear chip to get past it.
-
Where can I acquire one of those chips?
-
NLG Member RB should be able to hook you up. If machine has a bill validator you will need a set15 chip also to re-enable it and set the denom after a clear.
-
Yes it has a bill validation
-
ANything else I can try before clearing the ram?
-
Here's a long shot:
Note: - A Common problem that occurs after a game change is that you will see a 61- 1 code after you hold the test button in and hear the "Ding" but you close the door and turn the reset key and nothing happens. This is usually caused by an open door to the cash storage container or a misaligned Bill validator. - Check all your doors to be certain they are completely closed before closing the main machine door.

I don't think that's going to apply here -- something is happening: the 61 error is returning.
You were correct in your first reply -- this person is in the 61 loop and needs to use a RAM clear chip to resolve the issue.
-
Well when I hit the reset button, i hear the DING and it goes from 61 to 61-1, I close the door and turn the reset key once, All the lights and errors go away for a few sec. I see the credit and insert coin light flash a few times, then the 61 code comes back.

Much like the loop your machine is in, this thread is now in one as well.

OK so I followed the steps and I did a reset now I have an error code 21, coin in tilt have no idea where that’s at

Coin in optics board right under the coin comparitor.
-
Press the white button numberous times, then close the door - the 21 should clear.
If it doesn't then we need to be looking at a faulty optics board and/or a disconnected harness to the board.
-
I removed the optics board cleaned all the sensors reinstalled it….still get the same 21 code, I pressed the tiny little reset button on the optics board numerous times still get code 21. Is the green light on the coin comparitor supposed to be lit up when the door is open?
-
Sidenote I noticed the denomination on the optics board plastic says 50 does that mean $.50?

No

Yes
...I pressed the tiny little reset button on the optics board numerous times still get code 21.
That's NOT a "reset button"...that's a "Service Coin" button for a floor tech to add credits for test purposes.
You need spare parts.
Place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG for a set of coin-in optics.
Hopefully a member vendor will spot it and sell you one.
-
It’s a $.25 machine so does that mean somebody put in the wrong optics?
(I rotated your picture for you. - Bunker)
-
It%u2019s a $.25 machine so does that mean somebody put in the wrong optics?
No...it's means someone just had the wrong sticker on the reel glass.
Place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG for a .25 cent reel glass label like my avatar.
Maybe someone will have one for sale for you.
-
The denomination on the glass window shows $.25 I’m just grasping at straws and I was thinking that maybe the coin optics being $.50 that is why I’m getting the 21 error??
-
That's possible...esp. if the coin guide encoder is too big and the quarter you're throwing in are missing the optic beams.
Your encoder might be the one for large casino tokens.
Can you take apart the coin-in optics and show us the encoder?
It's the black plastic piece under the coin-in optics board.
It will have 3 holes for the optic beams called ABC.
It just takes a few minutes to remove a few screws to take it apart.
Your encoder needs that curved part of the plastic guide for quarters.
It guides the quarters towards the 3 holes for the optical beams.
Large casino tokens don't have that curved part of the encoder.
-
Check the orange harness for connector pins that have pushed in and not making contact. (common problem)
-
Sure…I’ll do it in a few and post pictures here
-
Here are a few pictures, Hope this helps.
-
another shot
-
Yep...just what I thought....your encoder doesn't have the curved part of the guide.
Slide a quarter along that straight rail...see if the quarter will cross over the three holes or not.
-
Are you cutting a 21 when you drop a coin or is it persistent ?
Pressing the white button a couple of times and closing the door should clear it.
If it’s persistent - ie doesn’t clear - then your optics are shot.
There is also the popsicle stick test where you able to see each of the a b c optics closing
-
Yes is a constant code…doesn’t clear. I tried the popsicle test 10-1 11-1 12-1 and I see no changes when I try the pospsicle test…..
-
Bad optics board or bad connection somewhere. Did you check that orange harness? Sometimes just moving it around some will clear the 21 (temporarily).
-
Yes the one that’s plugging into the optic sport. I unplugged it plugged it back in made sure no pins are bent.
-
Swap that coin-in optics board with another one and get the right encoder.
-
I will look for an optics board today…when you say encoder, what do you mean?

Encoder is the plastic coin guide (you need one for quarters). https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/265228206187 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/265228206187)

Got it! Just ordered it off Ebay, thanks for the link. I will go ahead and try a WTB in the forums as well. Can I test power going to the board?
-
does anyone know the voltage readings I should get at the coin optics and coin comparitor plugs?
-
Does anyone have a chart to help me check power on my coin optics plug and coin comparitor plug.
-
In your 2nd photo, what are you using as a sample coin?
If you were a contributing member, you could find all sorts of really cool documents, like this one below I retrieved for you from the NLG File System.

Thank you! Ill check in the morning. Should it have 24v with the machine powered on?
How do I become a contributing member?

So I checked the power and I get 24vdc when it is unplugged and then it drops to 10-8v when I plug it in.
Normal contition?

No, lets wait until you get your new coin-in optics board in.
There's probably nothing wrong with the harness or the coin comparitor.
We've already diagnosed that the problem is the coin-in optics board and the encoder guide.
BTW You're not measuring voltages correctly with whatever you're using.
Nowhere on that sheet does it say DC volts.
You are supposed to be reading alternating current.

Sorry brain fart...It was in AC not DC

Got It running...
Cleared Eprom
New Coin Opticts.
however there are a few issues I need with setting it up.
See the video on my youtube channel.

Try pushing the cash-credit button to lite it up right before you insert a dollar bill. You are in cash mode and need to be in credit mode. Also it sounds like the BV is set to .50 denom.
-
How would I get it to the proper mode?
-
Push the cash-credit button, it should lite up. Then insert a dollar into the bill validator. It should now give you 2 credits if BV is set to 50 cent denom. You will have to use a set15 to set BV to .25 After that you should get 4 credits instead of 2. If this does not work you have to check some other settings (like 5_0 and 8_0) As long as the cash-credit button remains lit you should get credits when you win instead of paying quarters also.

So I replaced all all the buttons and now the cash/credit button works. When I press the button now and it is lit up,(Never Did That Before) & the credits now stay in the machine when you win only, But when i insert a dollar bill it ejects 2 Quarters out instead of staying in the machine.
Here is A video clip.... https://youtu.be/ppO7VAGCH8I (https://youtu.be/ppO7VAGCH8I)

I said to lite the cash-credit button before inserting a bill, not the service button.
Do you have a set15 chip? Still need to set denom of BV to .25
Which SP is in machine? Need to look at the 8_x settings to get BV to give credits.

Lol yeah I just realized that...So I will try it again. and yes i do have a set 15 chip.
its a SP1271
So I did used the Set15 chip and changed the Denom to .25 and now i get 4 credits.
Also when I light up the credit/change button first I now keeps the 4 credits in the machine.

:cool_thumb_up: Good job!
Is everything working the way you want it to now?

Yep....But now the pull handle is stuck in the downward position...hahahahah Man too funny. Fix one thing then something else. It still works but only moves 2-3 inches now.
