Title: Bally E-1090-1 Code 71
Post by: Tom Bera on February 11, 2023, 03:49:30 PM
Help please, I just acquired a Bally E-1071-1 slot machine that has been sitting quite a while. It is
showing a code 71. I can push the reset button and the code goes away but comes right back. Any
suggestions on what to look for. I was told code 71 is a #1 reel reader problem so I swapped it with
the #2 reader and it still said code 71, I would have thought if the reader where the problem it should have
switched to a code 72.

Code 71 is real one error after index.  I just had a code 72 on my machine. Remove the reel mech and move the index arm and make sure the grease isn’t all gummed up. If it is, shoot some brake cleaner in there and dissolve all the old grease. A little 3 in 1 oil will work fine since your home game gets 1/1000 the play a casino machine would receive.

Code 71 has a dual purpose, if the game is communicating with a SDS (Slot Data System) a 71 indicates the door is open.
