Hello All,
I decided, about 2 months ago to convert my formal family room to a game room. I had a friend who had a IGTs or + machine many years ago. We had so much fun having a few beer and playing that slot.
I recently decided I wanted to add a slot machine to my new game room. I'm the kind of guy that learns crap quick, bought and restored a 67 Alfa Romeo, built an entire Palapa bar in my back yard, I have built all kinds of stuff. I started to research what slot machine I might want. I knew I wanted a reel slot, I remember playing a lot of Double and some Triple diamond slots. I started to focus on that, I learned that difference between the different reel models. I started to imagine an IGT S2000 Diamond game would be my first buy.
At this point I am all over Facebook groups, Marketplace, OfferUp and whatever other resource I can think of to learn and maybe a machine. I notice the machine I want will run about $900 plus shipping. I see a post, forget where, that says 3 damn machines are sitting in a Goodwill in AZ. I family in AZ, I send my nephew over to buy one of the slots. They have a Triple Diamond Strike, didn't even know that was a game variation, A double diamond, what I'm looking for, and some Luck strike fire 7's or something. All of them IGTs2000's. The double diamond wont even turn on. The other two do and I got them at what I think might be a decent price.
i imagine I will soon have tons of question because I know very little about how these things work. I love the internet and the information is here somewhere. I leave you with pics of the machines. My nephew is dropping them off to me in California this weekend.
Any beginner advice is welcome.
Cheers * insert beer glasses here*

Welcome aboard. One simple thing that I've done service calls and found when a machine won't power up is the power cord pulled out from inside the machine, not all the way, but just enough to prevent connection. Slim chance, but worth a look.
Thanks,
Wayne

Sometimes the easiest and most obvious is the fix :applause:
I bought two of the three, I'll leave the Double Diamond for someone else.
:thank_you: for the advice.

First thing to do. Remove the MPU and see if it has a green Varta battery that has leaked all over the board. If so, you'll need to find a replacement before going much further.
-
Replace the battery or whole board? :duh:
-
Can you take a picture of the MPU board?
Especially around the big green Varta battery area.
If you see below, when you post, there's a green "Attachments and other options"....click on that to attach a photo to your posts....has to 1000kb or smaller to fit.
-
The whole board. They cause corrosion which damages components and circuit traces.
-
I wont actually see the machines till Friday night. How much are boards and how available are they? :Scratch-Head:
-
The machine in your picture is a S2000.
Boards are readily available - this site will get you up and running in no time.
-
In California, a good place to find slots for sale is Craigslist. I recommend only buying machines that work and try it out before you buy.
-
Well, I already screwed up, bought two machines in AZ, both not working :24:
They arrive this Friday night, we share see what mess I put myself into. :arrowthruhead:

On the positive side, you can learn a lot about slots by working on them and you will get a lot of help from this forum. Also, it might not take much to get your slots running.
-
Should I already buy the reset chips in anticipation of having to work on my IGT s2000's?
-
The Diamond Strike only needed the small 2032 battery and it started right up!
The Lucky 777 needs more work.......
-
What's wrong with the Lucky 7's machine?
-
That's good news! Did the previous owner already remove the varta batteries?
-

Started a new thread for that machine :Scratch-Head:

Nope, they are on the boards and thankfully not leaking. Started a thread about the 777 machine.
-
You got lucky with that. Make sure to remove them soon so they don't get a chance to do any damage.

Calilumber: thanks for starting the new thread for the 777 machine.
For everyone else, here is the new thread:

I'll leave this thread here since it's basically a "General Chat" conversation. Good luck with the machines.
