Title: WMS BB1 Frozen / Touch screen error
Post by: scottf11961 on February 18, 2023, 09:18:56 AM
So apparently my game is stuck. While playing it, I opened the door to get some cash out of the box. and when i closed the door , the screen flashed something about a touch screen error. It wouldn't let me play anymore, so I did a complete RAM clear. while setting the settings, i had to touch each setting a few times before it registered i was touching it. I got all the way to the end, back to game, and I'm frozen on the WMS page. It was playing fine up until then.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks everyone

Sounds like something is possibly overheating.
What temperature is the MPU processor at?

You my be right. After letting it sit overnight, I turned it on today, and its working fine. Both fans are working, but I believe they never weren't.  .so confused on what would have caused this

Go into the diagnostics and observe your temperature sensor readings.
If you don't, you will be posting on here asking about where to buy an MPU and forking out Benjamins... :money: :money:  :rotfl:

Your machine is NOT new.
There is thermal paste between various heatsinks and important chips to keep them cool as forced air is pushed through the fins.
Over time, that thermal paste dries up and the thermal conductivity doesn't perform as well it did when new.
There runs the risk of severely over-heating graphic card chips and main processor chips.

It's a small job but you have to remove the heatsinks, scrape off the dried out old paste and apply new paste and put it back together.
Hopefully that will solve your overheating problems.

78.49 degrees  is that normal?

That depends on which sensor that reading is from, and how long the BB1 was [ON].

Is that the ONLY temperature reading that you're seeing in Diagnostics?
Keep an eye on the temperatures later...after the machine has been on for awhile, and see if the temperatures change any.

With the power [OFF], try to spin the blade of every fan in the machine with the tip of a small screwdriver.
The black plastic blades should freely spin around several rotations - without very much resistance at all.
IF they do NOT spin so well, it's time to replace them as they draw too much amperage from your power supply to "start" them to spin and keep them turning.
Old fans WILL kill your power supplies - that's a guarantee.

To order new ones from places like ebay, amazon, or electronic warehouse like Mouser, Jameco, or Futurelec, remove the old ones and look closely at the labels to acquire the right specifications for the new fans.
The labels should tell you the voltage and amps needed.
I would measure each one of fan housings from outside to outside, and the thickess of their sizes in milimeters and make note of them.

If you become a contributing member of NLG, then you may be able to download a parts manual/documentation for your machine.
