If someone tries to take one of my tickets from my machine to the local casino, is there going to be trouble?

I do not need the Indians after me.

Anyone ever had a problem in the past?

It's akin to taking forged currency to the store. If you like lot's of excitement give it a try...

I have no interest in doing so, but I have a lot of family and friends that play my collection. At some point someone may think they can get away with something.

I like the feature for home use but I don't need trouble if a ticket makes it to the casino.

Damn spent all that money and time on TITO and may as well turn it off.

You could print, "NO CASH VALUE", somewhere on the ticket, such as a the CITY/STATE/ZIP field, or some other similar type of "hey this isn't real money so don't try to use elsewhere" kind of message.

Warn people about not attempting it and the fact that it not only won't work but that being discovered would be a felony and just continue to enjoy using it at home. Like IGT said, as long as you the owner make no attempt to make them match a casino's ticket then your a$$ is covered. People need to be responsible for their own actions once they know the law

As long as your name and address aren't on the ticket, I don't know how it could link back to you?  :Scratch-Head:  The tickets will not validate anywhere but your house, so it's not like they are gonna get anywhere trying anyhow. If they were to be caught with the ticket, there could be an issue between them and the casino, but not sure, as wouldnt it be the same as taking a Bellagio ticket to your local Indian casino? It's only valid and redeemable at the casino that printed it.

:agreepost:   Advise your friends and relation, putting in a counterfeit ticket or money may also set an alarm off in the security office. After they take your picture at that machine, you will be visited by not so happy casino personal.

It's knowingly attempting to defraud the casino. Just because it doesn't work it still proves intent and if the idiot gets caught and says you told him it was OK to try and cover his butt then you may have a legal battle. The ticket you take to Ceasars from the Bellagio at least has actual cash value.

I joked about this once on the old site. I actually have some full blank ticket packs for a local casino here at my home with the casino's logo huge on the back. I said I'd print one for $50,000 and just show it people at the casino. Harvs warned the following (paraphrasing) "your head will be swelled up like a pumpkin in the trunk of someone's car"  :24: .

Seriously though, even when I'm using them I print the name of software in the machine in the "establishment" line so I know where it came from, and I leave the city, state, zip not filled in. I don't worry about it myself just because those lines are clearly not filled in, or not filled in correctly plus the whole aspect of the barcode and associated serial number being really generic.

I very much like the suggestion above where you could put in every line of the ticket "No Cash Value" or something similar.

Ha! Yes, Anyone that would try such a thing deserves a swift beating and tossed into the trunk of a car.. Fortunately I haven't had to deliver any beatings here, my friends and family understand, they get it.

And with a ticket like this..., c'mon..

- Anyone that would even think of trying it must have the brainpower of a pumpkin.. I avoid people like that at all cost..

True Harv's, but a casino would spot that ticket a mile away as not one of theirs just by the validation code.
Now if you were using enhanced secured validation and the tickets looked like this, then you would have trouble if you were using that casinos name and address info.

If the Casino is using enhanced validation and you happen to have some of that casino's blank tickets
You might get it to validate, the only thing is the amount, ticket number (not the bar code number) and machine/asset numbers wont match, and would be the only thing that would give away that the ticket was not printed by one of their machines.

Now depending on how closely they look at them during the count, etc, etc may or may not raise a red flag or two.

I do not recommend anyone trying to do it. Unless you want to be sleeping with Bubba at the Gray Bar Hotel for a few years.

When a TITO ticket is generated by a machine its bar code is registered in the casinos SMS (slot management system) system.
IF your home ticket just happened to have the same bar code as an outstanding ticket it might validate but it would validate for the amount written on the orginal ticket not the value of yours. If the ticket was for over $1199 then you can't use the automated machine and the cashiers cage would certainly catch a ticket that said HARVS Casino vs Ceasars Enterainment etc.
IN terms of getting in trouble ??? Ceasars (or other such name of a legitmate casino) would look at Harv's casino embossed on the redeemers ticket and politely hand it back and say something like "Sorry Wrong casino". In which case no problem. On the other hand you might get some yahoo who says "Harv's casino" whats that ? and turn you over to the gaming regulators for having an unlicensed betting parlor going on. I still rank this as a low probablility but would probably insulate myself and call this Harv's "fun" Casino where no one ever loses.
For myself its not the letter of the law - its the cost of the law. IF the authorties come knocking, seize your machines, and you go to court. You will hire a lawyer and you will successfully defend that you did nothing wrong. You will feel vindicated albiet $10,000 poorer due to legal fees.
Now what would be fun.... generating some of those $50,000 fake tickets and dropping them into the washroom tip boxes.....trading a $1000 ticket with the local prostitute... etc

I think bartering the ticket with a prostitute would get you MUCH further...or as Buzz would say "at least you'd get what you paid for with the prostitute".

I've been giving TITO some thought lately.  For those that have installed it on a bunch of machines, do you find that your guests are constantly printing ticket after ticket just for the heck of it?  I guess I wouldn't mind all the tickets being printed or the cost of the tickets, but I wonder what will happen if/when the ink runs out due to so much printing.  Is it like replacing an ink cartridge on a home printer?  Thanks.

There is no ink. The image on the ticket is done thermally/heat. Specially coated paper to work with thermal printers.
