Title: Slot machine and wife
Post by: gwslotting on November 19, 2020, 08:09:30 AM
I am not sure this is the right forum to post, and I see no one has used this forum for a while, so maybe time to refresh it....

I owned two non-working slot machines: Aristocrat Espirit and Seeburg mechanical slot for about 6 months. I finally got the Espirit semi working. Only thing is that it makes a loud grinding noise coming from the reels or motor, every time the handle is pulled.

Anyway, since the noise is only a bit annoying, the unit is still shiny, lits up nicely and spit out coins, I wanted to move it from my workshop into the house family room. The wife said "Absolutely no way ! It does not belong in a family room, dining room, living room, foyer etc. Hide it in your study, garage, workshop.."

The humor part is that I would like to find out how many of you folks out there encounter wife's objection of placing a slot machine as a show piece inside the house , and what did you do to WIN the battle, and you still have a wife staying with you... :rotfl:

I got a 7' x 18' area in the basement but it cost me a new home and my left leg.

I took the door off my PE poker when it broke down for the 9th time and made a small wood cabinet for a MAME conversion.

Now it's small enough to hang on the wall and fit anywhere in the living room and it can play hundreds of games, including a bunch of PE+ games.

Worked out great. Wife approved.

All my machines are in my designated slot room, they are not allowed anywhere else in the house.  I am in the process of negotiating an Alpha 2 pro in the living room (where nobody ever sits), but I think it's going to cost me a small fortune in luxury women's accessories.

Maybe if you put it on one of those nice oak veneer lighted stands it will fit into the decor as a nice piece of furniture!
