Title: IGT Fortune II door optics
Post by: 4ucustom on October 20, 2015, 09:10:38 PM
IGT Fortune II door optics, Hi I would like to know how to bypass the door optics on a fortune II draw poker drop in bar slot? :EmoticonHelp4:

also this machine wont play with the door open, screen says door open closure restart.

Thanks in advance for any help!

"update"

I'd like to add what I've done since posting this question this machine was missing one half of the Optics on the door so I took a Gamble and used an optic off of a coin optic soldered it on and checked it over with video to see that it was flashing and it works it's flashing but still it doesn't work. Are optics a matched set do I need to have both pair together ? problem is the one from the coin optic has three posts on it and one in the cabinet has two this would be the receiver not the emitter.  I'll keep playing with it and update when I know more.

Fixed a font size issue.  -knagl

I don't know a ton about the Fortune II, but generally speaking door optics work in pairs, one sender (emitter) and one receiver.  Only the sender/emitter will appear to light up when viewed through a video viewfinder (digital camera, phone, etc.) -- the receiver will not.

You are correct about the machine not playing due to the door open condition.  The "Closure" and "Restart" messages are rather benign, although it's unusual to have both a "closure" and a "door open" message appear at the same time -- that's contradictory, as the "closure" message is supposed to indicate that the door was open, is now closed, and a paid game has not yet been played.  "Restart", for the record, just indicates that the machine had been powered down and is now back on, and a paid game has not yet been played.

Caught myself grinning from ear to ear this morning I had the boards out so I can take pictures of them and I remembered reading about the ram clear switch so I flip that switch and put it back in and now the games working here are some pics,

Now these two pictures show a spot on the board I found that was burnt and although  the game works I think this might cause a problem down the line. For now I'm on the hunt for some antique cabinet maybe TV cabinet or stereo cabinet or sewing cabinet to drop this thing init's in pretty rough shape now but I got it for free

Thanks again for the help I received on this post

If you replace those diodes, raise them up on the leads off the board.
That will get the heat up and away from the board and help stop the heat damage.
