Title: THE GAME ROOM IS FULL. NO MORE ROOM AT THE INN
Post by: RiseLikeRa on November 06, 2019, 04:15:43 AM
Not because I would not like another game or two... I just ran out of space.  One dozen cousin is all that I can comfortably fit into my basement game room and still enjoy it.  In addition to that I have a wife who is constantly on patrol for new slot machine stuff.  "where did that come from" are all four letter words in my house.

7 Bally EM games, 5 IGT Fortune 1 games and an assortment of signs and period pieces have sealed the deal.   Some members of NLG have been here and had a ball playing the old machines.  That is my joy and this is my humble offering to the Show off My Game Room forum.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO my friend shorttrackskater if ANY picture makes it to this post.  He is a great mentor and teacher.

Nice collection you have there. I really like the dice and 21 video machines. You don’t see them very often. Then you have that older looking light on top of one, very cool. Nice Bally collection too. What Demon is your Metalist?

There is ALWAYS room for 1 more!  LOL.  Love your EM's and the stands.

Gary and Rick thank you both for the kind words. :thank_you:

Gary the light is probably as old as the Bally EM's.  I was riding down the street and saw it at curbside.  Not a single crystal broken.  The colors when lit match the Bally glass pretty good.  Its heavy and very well made.  When I found it it did not work.  I have a great deal of Sanford and Son in my blood.  I rewired it and it adds a beautiful glow to the game room without making the playing area too bright.  I use an LED bulb in it to give off nice warm light and because I am wicked cheap.

The Medalist is a 10 cent machine.  A friend of mine was restoring the game and I made him an offer.  Since I had several 5 cent games and a 25 cent game at the time I asked that he make this one a dime.  It worked so so at first.  The coin mech rejected about every 4th dime.  He told me that 10 mechs were REALLY hard to find.  The original one in the game was from an old pinball.  As long as you fed that coins very slowly it would not jam.  Remember in pinball you just put 1 coin in and you are off to the races.  In a multi coin game this mech was spoiling the fun.  I called the company that makes the mechs for these games.  A very nice lady actually had this one made brand new.  It took some time and warehouse searching because no games has been operated by a dime in decades.  Now the Medalist is as smooth as butter.  Expensive yes, but worth it to me.

I have NEVER seen a TV Dice other than mine.  The 21 game I have seen one other recently.  The other game was big since that slot and the stand were built together.  It is the oldest of this kink that I own.  Made by Fortune Coin Company before the became SIRCOMA and then IGT.

Rick I am ABSOLUTELY in the buy one/sell one realm now, plus I am out of stands :rotfl:

Stay well all and Rise Like Ra!

Nice job on saving the lamp Ra!!! I have a quarter Bally Metalist myself. I have picked up 2 others too. I think it would be cool to have one in Nickel, Dime, Quarter side by side.

Gary that would be a great idea.  The key is to find good glass for all of them.  I would like to find an 873 fruit dime or quarter since I have 2 of them in 5 cents.  Hey wait!  I am slipping back into buy mode.  I feel like I am on Temptation Island :fryingpan:

I was an idiot and traded my mint Medalist for a Mills Horse Head Bonus about 25 years ago.  Not that the Mills was crap, but Medalist has to be my top Bally EM game.  3 games in one.   :dancing_2:

Idiot is too strong.  At the time you got what you were looking for.  The Medalist is the most common of the NON common Bally EM's.  Get yourself one and have the best of both worlds.

My advice is free and worth every penny

Great looking collection.
I hope to be there myself one day, as these things take time and money.
Your machines are a lot older than what I collect, but are still very beautiful.
Great job preserving some history!

Your game room looks great! Good photos too. You could probably re-size them one side larger and they should post fine. Try it next time, but these look great.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm just the site "worker bee", but learning more and more.

All these other guys though are the pros with slots!  :propeller:

Bunker if I try to put an addition on the house for slot machines I will be living in your bunker.  Actually guys to be honest, I have a feeling of contentment when it comes to the slots now.  Sure, I always keep an eye out for my dream machine, a Bally Las Vegas, and sure, I would trade game for game with someone out there, and sure I would buy one at the right price to fix and sell but essentially I am done.  Like I tell newbies to this forum, this collecting thing is addictive and there is no cure.   Overall I am happy.  All of the games work 100%, I have the stands that I have been searching for, life is good.

As its gets colder here in the North East, 25 degrees at the time of this post, I spend more time playing the games.  Ash100 my parents and in laws play these games the most.  Ranging in age from 76-86 these are the games that bring back the best memories for them.  The heavy plastic cup with a dirty right hand from feeding the coins in,  that was there gambling experience.  3 of the 4 don't have the modility to navigate a real casino anymore.  They play and tell their stories and laugh for hours.  When they finish I go into the room and on hands a knees I pick up the many coins that their old tired fingers just could not hold onto anymore.  Such is my life and I cherish every moment.

Mark, that you soooo much for educating me about picture sizing.  I hope that I have passed the test professor.   :thank_you:

Now what do you suggest that I do to learn how to put the arrows and circles on the images to help other NLG members when I can.  Is there a simple web site or program that a geezer like me can understand?  Know that we appreciate all that you do behind the scenes.

Stay well all

Nope, no no NO! You're NOT staying with me!!!  :rotfl: :rotfl:

I use a free program you can get online called "Paint.net" to re-size pictures, draw arrows, and number stuff  :cool_thumb_up:

I wonder how far "Northeast" you are? I'm like near Montreal!

Bunker I am about 60 miles North of NYC.  Looking at the outside thermometer at the time of this post it's 14 degrees outside. Yikes!  I don't want to think of how cold it must be in Montreal.  Beautiful city.  I was there about 3 years ago.  Not sure how many others on NLG are in this vicinity.  I have met quite a few from Pennsylvania but NONE from the New England area.  Perhaps they have even more restrictive laws that New York.

Dailey, full is full, even for me.  Like I said I would buy one and sell one but that's it.  A friend of mine has about 50 slots and 10 pinballs all crammed together.  In addition to a portion of that space being where he does repairs on his games there is no space to enjoy them.  You have to move 3 machines in order to play 1.  There is such a thing as too much and I am on the border. :dancing_2: :1:

I was able to shift the 9 machines in my room about 3 or 4 inches and squeeze in another. Then I moved a couple sideways and squeezed in two mechanical slots!  :propeller:

Bars, I might be behind bars if I  try to sneak another slot machine into this house.  Actually,  and I  never thought that I would say this, I am pretty content with the variety of the games that I have.   Always keeping an eye out for a Bally Las Vegas.   I would sell the 809 10 cent  to make space.

The 873 with the Golden Nugget glass is really good looking and the 809 with the blue bally glass is great too. Both are common, fun games with decidedly special graphics.

Thank you Sam.  I got a new 873 since those pictures were taken.  I posted pictures on NLG.  I had to sell the Caesar's Palace IGT slot to make room.  NOW my gameroom is done. :24:
