That one was made for the S2000 platform....I believe it was the Cham 3 version of a progressive display?

These topbox progressive displays are quickly approaching 20 years old nowadays!!

There will be some small etched numbers etched onto the circuit board.

Although we're not able to see the connector molex plug end of the yellow harness, I'm sure the S+ won't have anythig that fits it.

I can barely see the Molex on the end of the blue/brown power harness but that's for an S2000 model...again, not for an S+ model.

Hi,

This is an updated version of the LED5 - Line Extension Device, but it is a standalone model.
These should work fine in an S+

On the S+ motherboard - the fixed board that the MPU plugs into there is a 4 pin open interface.
Coin In, Gnd, Data In, Unsed.

On the Cham side of the equation you will have either a 3 pin or 4 pin interface that this plugs into the slot.
There is also another 2 pin connector for data in for when it is NOT used as standalone - this 2 pin data in connects to a CON1 or a CON2i supercontroller.

Basic operation is that when a coin (or credit) is played you get a momentary short between the SLots Coin in and Gnd points which advances the progressive. When the top award is hit you get a complete short of those two pins until you use the jackpot reset key which triggers the Mikohns win.

You need the PSP software to program it.... its a dos program.

IGT bought out Mikon and replaced these with their own IGT NETPLEX version and basically buried the Mikohn brand.

I tried to program it on my bench. I used my XP laptop with PSP and the modded cable. I have been programming CHAM2+ with no issues. Can't get this LED5 programmed.  Which version of PSP do I need to use? Do I use the same modded cable? And do all the dipswitches need to be off position?

The 9 pin cable.... should be the same modified one.
I have some alternate versions of PSP but other than some minor function changes they are all the same.

I would check that your getting power from the power supply. Those vampire clips can occasionally  be flakey.
Are you getting anything on the display ??

I have a manual regarding the dipswitches, but I only remember them being related to what information is displayed.
Ie you can turn off scrolling messages, display jackpot 1,2,3,4 or rotate through them.
I will see if I can dig up a manual. and post it.

If you go to the download section, Mikohn, Page 5
There is a download called Mikohn Chameleon dip settings.

You can also find a description of these in the CON1.PDF manual pages 29 - 31
They list them as Mini Chameleon.

These were not the manuals I was looking for but they have the information you requested.
I will look again at home tonight.

Jay. Yes it is powered up and the display shows EMPTY  with dip #8 in one position and in the other position it shows  $0.00. When i press F1 for jackpot programming settings, it does not update . I will get more pics of what I get for error message in PSP .  Thank You!! Tim

I read through the info and all looks correct on my end that I can see. Only thing is that it is using a Tandy computer with a specific cable??    i'm getting C1 error on the display. I tried PSP V2.0 and still no luck. I tried PSP V1.0  CON1  and no luck there either.

On my LED5 (Cham1) - which are not standalone - the programming comes through the 2 wire interface to the CON1 and its the CON1 that I program with PSP and the 9pin cable.
The 9 pin interfaces on the LED5 (Cham1) do nothing - same behavior you are experiencing.

At one time I had connected up a serial cable to the 9 pin interface both crossed, not crossed etc and used Putty at various terminal speeds to see if I could get anything out of it. NADA.
My conjecture is that the ports were there to service the unit with a standalone chip.

I had also did the same with the Con1 and a ChamII and I had received some communications. I had planned to look at it in more detail with a freeware package called serialmon but never got around to it.

It would be interesting to see how your device behaves connected to the two wire connection from a CON1.

Jay, Thank You! Maybe I can use the power supply on a CHAM2+ . The display and board into a box of other junk .
